A new report lists several major cities across the United States as being the worst to live in for those with sensitivity to allergies.

According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA), Tulsa falls just behind Wichita, Kansas, and New Orleans, Louisiana, and nearby Oklahoma City as the fourth-worst place to live if you have allergies.

The AAFA says more than 100 million people in the US live with various types of allergies every year, many of them having seasonal pollen allergies.

The AAFA says it looked at multiple factors, including pollen scores for trees, grass and weeds throughout the year, over-the-counter allergy medicine use and the availability of board-certified allergists and immunologists in the surveyed areas.

According to the foundation, tree pollen is the first pollen to appear each year, with trees producing the most pollen from February through April.

In some regions, such as the South, trees may produce pollen as early as December or January.

Grass pollen causes most late spring and summer pollen allergy symptoms, the foundation says, with most lasting from April through early June.

Depending on your location, the AAFA says weed pollen, especially ragweed, can trigger symptoms starting in August and peaking in mid-September. Ragweed season may last 6 to 10 weeks until the first frost. Some parts of the U.S. now have pollen year-round.

LEONARD, Okla. —

A search and rescue operation was underway near Leonard after authorities said a mother and her daughter were swept away by floodwaters over the weekend.

Around 4:45 p.m. Sunday, Bixby Fire Department officials received a report that a vehicle had been swept away in high waters about 4.5 miles east of Leonard in south Tulsa County.

Leonard is an unincorporated community in the southeastern corner of Tulsa County. The population according to the 2020 U.S. Census was 262.

The call prompted a mutual-aid response from numerous agencies from multiple counties.

Authorities confirmed that a 47-year-old woman and 7-year-old girl were inside an SUV on private property when the vehicle was swept away by floodwaters.

A father and child in the SUV were able to jump out of the floating vehicle and get to higher ground, according to the Bixby Fire Department. The mother and daughter, however, were swept away.

Drone teams and swift water rescue teams responded to the scene to help with the search. Bixby Fire Department officials said the terrain is rural and involves multiple flooded areas and the Arkansas River to the north.

On Monday, the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office said an Oklahoma Highway Patrol boat crew recovered the mother's body shortly after 9 a.m. She was identified as Leila Seyed Faraji, 46.

At about 5 p.m., the body of 7-year-old Rosa Faraji of Broken Arrow was located by Oklahoma Highway Patrol's boat crew, according to the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office.

LEONARD, Okla. — Authorities have recovered the body of the missing child just after 5 p.m. on Monday.

She was found hours after authorities recovered the body of a woman who was swept away by flood waters near Leonard.

Tulsa County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) issued the following statement:

"Just after 5 p.m. today, a boat crew from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol located the body of the 7 year old girl who was swept away in the flood waters along with her mother yesterday near Leonard. She has been identified at Rosa Faraji of Broken Arrow. This concludes the search along the Arkansas River. TCSO would like to thank all the agencies who played a role in the search."

TCSO received a call at around 4:38 p.m. on Sunday regarding a car stranded in water with multiple people inside.

TCSO said the car had a family of four from Broken Arrow inside. The family was attempting to visit friends in the area when they took a wrong turn and ended up on a flooded bridge over a creek.

The father was able to get himself and his 10-year-old daughter to safety, but his wife, identified as Leila Seyed Faraji, and their 7-year-old daughter were swept away, according to TCSO.

"They thought they could make it through, but unfortunately the vehicle was overtaken by water. It was a father and a mother and two daughters," said Casey Roebuck with TCSO.

Roebuck said hundreds of crew members came to help with rescue efforts.

"We had the dogs from Oklahoma Task Force 1, we had drones. Yesterday, TPD had their helicopters up. We had people on foot along the river banks. We had side by sides with crews in them and we've had multiple boats in the water since yesterday," Roebuck said.

On Monday, just after 9 a.m., TCSO said the mother's body was found.

Authorities are still searching for the 7-year-old girl. TCSO said crews will remain on scene until nightfall and if the child isn't found today, they will continue to search tomorrow morning.

Emotions are at a high for Ahmad Moradi, a family friend and teacher of the family who has not left the scene since Sunday.

"She was one of my best students. Very well mannered, enthusiastic. She was a joy,” Moradi said.

Moradi said he’s thankful to the crews for the hard work they're doing.

"They're so gracious and hopeful. We're really blessed with having all of the emergency people who are really going above and beyond,” Moradi said.

He said he will continue staying with crews until the girl is found.

"I'm hoping to find her alive, but the chances sound very slim, but I'm hoping they'll find her soon,” Moradi said.
