The crash occurred at the intersection of Berkeley Dr and W Sylvania Ave, a busy residential-commercial corridor on the city’s west side. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene and provided medical assistance to at least one injured individual. Authorities have not released specific information regarding the severity of the injuries or whether others were involved.

The intersection experienced temporary traffic disruption as crews worked to manage the scene and remove the vehicles. Police are currently investigating the cause of the crash.

We extend our well wishes to the injured individual and hope for a smooth and complete recovery.

Two-Vehicle Collisions in West Toledo Neighborhoods

Intersections like Berkeley Dr and W Sylvania Ave are common crash sites in densely populated areas of Toledo. With local traffic, nearby schools, and frequent turning vehicles, even routine drives through these zones can become dangerous—particularly when drivers are distracted, fail to yield, or misjudge oncoming traffic.

Two-vehicle crashes at intersections often involve side impacts or front-end collisions, both of which can lead to a range of injuries. Prompt medical response, like the one seen in this incident, is vital to preventing complications and ensuring proper care for those involved.

As part of its traffic safety efforts, Toledo continues to assess intersection improvements and implement public awareness campaigns. Still, preventing crashes ultimately relies on driver awareness and caution—especially in mixed-use corridors where pedestrians, buses, and cyclists are also present.

If you or someone you care about was injured in this crash, now is the time to explore your options for care and support.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo is remembering one of its most iconic voices,. Bob Kelly, a beloved radio personality whose career spanned more than five decades, died on his 84th birthday. Known off-air as Norm Plummer, Kelly leaves behind a legacy of humor, kindness and inspiration in the broadcasting community.

Kelly was a fixture on Toledo’s radio airwaves for over 50 years, earning the admiration of colleagues and listeners alike. Friends and former coworkers said his unique personality and dedication to his craft made a lasting impact on the community.

“He was funny. He was quick-witted, just sharp as a tack with the lines. But mostly he was a kind person, very gentle,” said Tom Waniewski, a longtime friend and former co-worker of Kelly.

Former WTOL 11 news anchor Jerry Anderson, who worked in Toledo television for nearly four decades, said Kelly helped shape his own career in broadcasting.

“He wasn’t that voice of God guy on radio. He was just Bob,” Anderson said. “He had a perfect voice for what he did in radio. And so quick, so funny. I mean, boom, boom, boom. His mind, I just marveled at.”

Anderson shared a personal moment with Kelly that left a lasting impression.

“I told him, ‘Bob, you’re the reason I got into broadcasting.’ And without missing a beat he goes, ‘Well, that’s a lot of blame to lay on any one person.’ And that was just Bob,” Anderson recalled.

Both Anderson and Waniewski emphasized the influence Kelly had on their lives and the legacy he left behind.

“Toledo has lost—we’ve lost—an icon,” Anderson said. “But you know what, they can’t swipe your memories from you. And I have a lot of good ones with Bob.”

“I never heard him say a bad word about anybody,” Waniewski added. “And it was important to me, as my career was growing, that he was very supportive of what I did.”

Funeral arrangements for Bob Kelly have not yet been announced. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

How will 'The Paper' portray Toledo? Local groups hopeful it shines spotlight on Glass City culture

Michael DeSanto, head of FilmToledo, said he’s spent the past year working closely with NBC to make the sitcom's portrayal of the Glass City feel authentic.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Move over, Scranton. NBC has a new workplace comedy, and this one calls Toledo home.

"The Paper," a new sitcom set at a fictional local newspaper called "The Truth Teller," is bringing Hollywood attention to the 419. The show, which will debut in September on the Peacock streaming service, will highlight the quirks, charm and culture of a Midwest newsroom, according to NBC — and it has deep ties to the real Toledo community.

Michael DeSanto, head of FilmToledo, said he’s spent the past year working closely with NBC to help bring the production to life.

“It’s great publicity for us,” DeSanto said. “They had a bunch of different departments reach out to me, getting the feel of Toledo’s culture, businesses, idiosyncrasies, even fashion.”

The show’s fictional setting may aim for laughs, but for those in the business of news, it hits close to home.

“I’m curious to see how they take it,” said Lori King, a longtime journalist and editor-in-chief of the Toledo Free Press. “But I know it’s a comedy, so what kind of stories are they going to cover?”

King hopes the show captures not just the humor of the newsroom, but the critical role of local journalism.

“We’re the grassroots of journalism,” she said. “It’s our job to tell the community what’s happening in their town. Without local news, you wouldn’t know anything.”

Beyond the storyline, the show is giving local businesses a nationwide platform. Toledo staples like the Walleye, Mud Hens and apparel company Jupmode are featured throughout the series.

“To be able to have our brand and our products seen nationwide is a really cool experience,” said Stephen Gullette, a marketing specialist for Jupmode.

Mugs, hats and local gear appear on-screen — a detail made possible through coordination with FilmToledo. For many involved, it's about more than exposure.

“It’s just really cool to see the sense of community and excitement around the show here in Toledo,” Gullette said.

DeSanto told WTOL 11 that the show will also reference Jeep, as well as the nickname "Glass City." He also said local businesses Balance Pan-Asian Grille, House of Dow and Destination Toledo may also make an appearance throughout.

'The Office' spinoff 'The Paper' set in Ohio. See cast, Peacock premiere date

It's not identity theft — because "Identity theft is not a joke, Jim" — but there will be a familiar face in the cast when the spinoff of NBC's beloved "The Office" premieres later this year. And this new show will be set in Ohio.

Yes, "The Office" is finally getting a spinoff, "The Paper," USA TODAY reports. NBC's streaming service Peacock has picked up the new mockumentary-style comedy from Greg Daniels (who adapted the British version of "The Office" for the U.S.) and Michael Koman ("Nathan for You"). And it's set in the same universe as the Dunder Mifflin crew.

So, what will "The Paper" be about? And when will it air? Here's what to know.

When will 'The Paper' premiere on Peacock?

Peacock announced May 12 that "The Paper" will premiere on the streaming service in September, USA TODAY reports.

'The Paper' will be set in Toledo, Ohio

Toledo, Ohio is the new Scranton, Pennsylvania in "The Paper," which focuses on the floundering newsroom of local paper The Truth Teller, according to a news release.

"The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters," Peacock said May 7, as reported by USA TODAY.

Is the Toledo Truth Teller a real newspaper?

Film Toledo shared that it helped "The Paper" production team source authentic memorabilia, brands and stories to make the show more authentic and accurate, according to WTOL.

The show follows the resurrection of a newspaper named the Toledo Truth Teller, but there's no indication that is or was a real publication in the Glass City.

'Welcome to Flatch' spotlights fictional Ohio town

'The Office' spinoff cast 'The Paper' sees one actor reprising role

Original "The Office" cast member Oscar Nunez is reprising his role in the new series, which also stars Domnhall Gleeson ("About Time," General Hux in the Star Wars sequel trilogy) and Sabrina Impacciatore ("The White Lotus).

USA TODAY reports that Peacock announced "The Paper" premiere at its annual upfront presentation in New York, where Gleeson, Nunez and Impacciatore debuted a clip of the series which Gleeson described as being about “underdog characters that are banding together to keep journalism alive.”

'The Office' launches careers of Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Mindy Kaling

"The Office," which launched the careers of Steve Carell, John Krasinski and Mindy Kaling, concluded its nine-season NBC run in 2013. It slowly blossomed into a major hit, especially on streaming. In 2020, "The Office" was the most-streamed show, according to Nielsen, with more than 57 billion minutes viewed.

The University of Toledo plans to suspend several low-enrollment undergraduate programs by 2025-26 to comply with Ohio Senate Bill 1 requirements.

TOLEDO, Ohio — The University of Toledo announced plans to suspend admission to several undergraduate degree programs to comply with recently passed Senate Bill 1 in Ohio, and cuts to other degree programs as part of a "prioritization process."

UToledo plans to phase out several low-enrollment degree programs starting with the 2025-26 academic year. While admissions to these programs will be suspended, the university says students already enrolled in these programs will be able to finish their degrees without interruption.

The university says the prioritization process is in response to a "challenging time in higher education," as colleges are dealing with a declining population of high school graduates entering college, current student retention challenges and rising costs of operation.

"This effort is aligned with the UToledo Reimagined strategic plan that includes the stated goal to deliver relevant and innovative academic programs," the university's website says. "While there may be some immediate cost savings, the goals of this effort are more focused on growth as UToledo's student enrollment, retention and graduation rates improve as the University becomes more competitive."

UToledo says the Office of the Provost worked alongside college deans to evaluate programs based on several factors, such as student and workforce demand, accreditation requirements and the potential to offer courses as minors or certificates instead.

Courses in the affected areas will still be available as part of the university’s core curriculum or as components of minors and certificates, the university says.

The timing of these moves coincides with new state requirements. Ohio Senate Bill 1, recently signed into law by Gov. Mike DeWine, mandates that universities eliminate undergraduate programs that consistently graduate fewer than five students per year over a three-year span.

Undergraduate programs being suspended to comply with SB1:

The programs remain available as minors for students still interested in these areas of study, the university says.

UToledo is also suspending several other degree programs as part of the provost's review of the recommendations of the Program Reallocation and Investment Committee:

For more information on the Academic Program Prioritization, visit the university's website at this link.
