Boasting an indoor-outdoor space with fire pits, group seating, and stunning views of the Papago Buttes, Glenrosa is a destination for food lovers as well as an all-new final amenity to Arizona’s sole lighted golf course. The custom-made live fire grill emblazoned with the Glenrosa logo is the centerpiece of the kitchen and is surrounded by hand-placed tile, creating the feeling of a Sonoran hacienda. “We wanted to create a laid-back space, where guests can share premium food and create memories with their friends and family,” says Grass Clippings Co-Founder Jake Hoselton. “Glenrosa is the celebration of people, which sits at the core of our ‘Stay Grassy’ philosophy.”
The entire design, from architecture to interiors, was brought to life by the team at AV3 Design Studio, Artie Vigil III & Cody Castelletti. The original building, constructed in the 1980s, was a modern interpretation of a traditional Hohokam village structure. For the remodel, we softened the masonry with stucco and integrated Western Territorial elements, while the architectural approach drew inspiration from Arizona’s agrarian and agricultural history. This fusion of influences reflects a deep appreciation for the Southwest, a sentiment shared by all the founders, who are natives of the region. The interior design embraces simplicity and authenticity, incorporating materials like concrete, wood, and tile—commonly seen in taquerias—alongside curated found objects and vintage furnishings sourced from thrift and antique shops across Arizona.
James Beard-nominated chef Samantha Sanz played a key role in shaping Glenrosa’s opening menu, setting the stage for a dynamic culinary experience. Now, Chef Victor Davila, previously the executive chef at Caesars, steps in to lead the kitchen, building upon her vision while bringing his own expertise and creativity to the table. True to the restaurant’s ethos, the menu is driven by fresh, local ingredients. Featuring both lunch and dinner, there is truly something for everyone. Standouts from the lunch menu include Tacos Dorados which are crispy tacos stuffed with chile Colorado beef, pickled veggies, and consume; and the Tijuana Salad with baby gem lettuce, heirloom tomatoes, chorizo bread crumbs, Manchego cheese, crunchy corn, toasted shaved almonds, and a house-made Caesar dressing. The dinner menu features many of the lunch items, with an additional “Wood Fired” section that features a 20 oz. bone-in ribeye with charred onion and roasted veggies; Pescado Zarandeado, red snapper marinated in chile Colorado, chimichurri, and charred onions; and large family platters with tomahawk steaks, whole chickens, enchiladas, and fish. Also available in the mornings until 11 will be grab-and-go breakfast items like breakfast burritos and fresh-squeezed juices like the Papago Sunrise that has orange, carrot, ginger, and turmeric.
Glenrosa’s beverage program follows the same ethos as the food. Cocktails are made with scratch mixes, house-made syrups, and of course, fresh-squeezed juices. Highlights include La Juquila, with Los Altos Tequila, fresh lime and orange juices, agave nectar, and a Tajin rim; the Aloe Margarita, with tequila, Chareau Aloe Liqueur, fresh lime juice, agave nectar, and a salt rim; and El Zacate Sucia Martini, with Roxx vodka, jalapeños, olive juice, and jalapeño olives. Plus, a wide selection of liquors including mezcal, whiskey, and tequila; draft and canned beer; seltzers; and a robust wine list.

Sam’s Club at Tempe Marketplace
A Sam’s Club Warehouse store that will total 154,669 square feet of retail with a fueling station on 14 acres is scheduled to open in “late 2025,” according to Sam’s Club and Tempe Marketplace announcements.
The store has already begun hiring staff and has a promotional discount on memberships available through May 31.
The store will sit on the southeast corner of the Tempe Marketplace shopping center, one of the last undeveloped sites there.
Medina Station in east Mesa
Located along Southern Avenue and Signal Butte Road in east Mesa, Medina Station consists of about 40 acres dedicated to retail and dining and 23 acres for apartment housing.
Dick’s Sporting Goods and Target will anchor the project. Medina Station is 70% pre-leased with the remaining lots under negotiations, according to developer SimonCRE.
Avalon Ranch along the Gilbert and Mesa border
A 14-acre commercial center bordering Mesa and Gilbert in the southeast Valley aims to bring a fitness center and dining options to the area.
The project, dubbed Avalon Ranch, plans to bring an EOS Fitness Center, an Aldi grocery store, a McDonald's, a 7-Eleven convenience store, a Taco Bell and a Valvoline.
It’s located along Power and Elliot roads in Mesa.
A tenant for the seventh lot at the property has yet to be announced.

Swedish furniture and home goods giant IKEA announced plans to open a third Valley location, this one in Phoenix, on May 7, the same day it opened a new-look IKEA in Scottsdale.
The store, which will be a smaller format than a traditional IKEA store, is planned to open early next year, the company announced.
“We are thrilled to offer Phoenix metro area residents more ways to shop and experience IKEA.” Javier Quiñones, CEO & chief sustainability officer for IKEA U.S., said in a statement. “These new locations highlight our commitment to bring IKEA closer to the many people and make it easier and more affordable to access our home furnishing products and solutions.”
Where will the Phoenix IKEA store be?
It will be in the Village Square II shopping center at Cactus Road and Tatum Boulevard. It is across the street from the former Paradise Valley Mall, now called PV, which is in the middle of a major redevelopment.
What will the IKEA Phoenix store be like?
The store is one level and covers approximately 75,000 square feet. It will offer customers access to over 23,000 items, primarily consisting of home furnishing accessories and about 75 small furniture items. The store will also have a new Swedish Deli concept, offering a variety of hot and cold food to eat on site or take home. This includes meatballs, plant balls, hot dogs, veggie dogs, plant dogs and cinnamon buns.
What is different about the new Scottsdale IKEA?
IKEA opened its second Arizona location, a small-format store at the Scottsdale Promenade, on May 7, the same day it announced plans for the Phoenix store.
The Scottsdale location is a small format “plan and order point” where customers can browse the showroom and talk to employees about their plans for their homes, and order items. There is no stock at the studio, all the items are ordered.
Where are the other Arizona IKEA stores?
There is a full-format IKEA store on West IKEA Way in Tempe, near Interstate 10 and Warner Road. It opened in 2004.
In 2017, IKEA announced plans to open a full-size store in Glendale, but that never came to fruition and the company canceled plans for the location in 2018. The site IKEA had eyed is now the site where VAI Resort is under construction, near Loop 101 and Cardinals Way.

TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — Tempe city officials plan to turn on photo-enforcement cameras in the coming days at more than a dozen intersections as the city continues its ongoing work on road safety.
“The data shows that these cameras effectively reduce crashes and serious injuries worldwide,” said Tempe Mayor Corey Woods. “Tempe residents deserve to feel safe on our roads, whether they walk, drive or bike to get where they need to go, and this program will help ensure that they can do so safely.”
Cameras have been installed at 14 intersections throughout the city and four mobile units. They will begin capturing images on May 7, when warnings will start being issued. On June 5, any car caught speeding or running a red light will receive a civil citation with a $250 fine. Criminal charges could also apply for excessive speeds as applicable under state law.
Arizona’s Family Investigates has done a series of reports on photo enforcement and Tempe’s decision to re-start its program.
In 2020, Tempe adopted a program aimed at preventing all traffic deaths. Despite the additional resources, the city hasn’t seen major drops in the number of serious and deadly crashes. But they have made progress at a time when Tempe is growing.
“We just really need to be more intentional about how we build our infrastructure,” Ellie Volosin, a Senior Civil Engineer with the city said back in October.
It comes as Tempe is dealing with a shortage of officers.
Officials in Tempe cite a U.S. Department of Transportation study showing that photo-enforcement cameras can reduce crashes by more than 50%. A similar study commissioned by Scottsdale showed crashes fell by 65% at intersections with photo enforcement.
Tempe says it chose the intersections with the highest disparity between posted speed limits and documented speeds of vehicles driving through, those with the highest crash rates, and those with at least three serious or deadly crashes between 2018 and 2022.
“Hopefully, if it makes people see the red light and slam on the brakes then that would be a good thing,” Craig Pratt, a pedestrian said.
