STAMFORD — Information Services Group, a technology research and advisory firm, will relocate later this year its main offices to the downtown building at 400 Atlantic St., one of several companies that have recently signed leases in the former home of Spectrum-services provider Charter Communications.
ISG plans to move in September into its new 12,000-square-foot offices at 400 Atlantic, which will be the base for about 50 employees, company officials said. It will relocate from its current hub at 2187 Atlantic St., in Stamford’s South End, where it has been based since 2018. The company has maintained its main offices in Stamford since its founding in 2006.
“With our lease at 2187 Atlantic St. coming to end this year, it was time to find a new home for our ISG global headquarters,” ISG spokesperson Will Thoretz said this week. “Our new space in the heart of downtown Stamford offers more amenities and closer proximity to the Stamford railroad station for the convenience of our employees, clients and guests. And we’ll be in good company, sharing the building with other world-class firms.”
Three other firms signed leases at 400 Atlantic in the first quarter of this year, according to commercial real estate firm CBRE. NorthCoast Asset Management, a wealth manager whose website lists an address at Greenwich Office Park, leased 13,000 square feet; payments company Moneycorp leased 12,000 square feet; and another financial-services firm, Steward Partners Global Advisory, leased 8,000 square feet, according to CBRE.
Messages left for NorthCoast, Moneycorp and Steward Partners were not returned.
In the past couple of years, a number of other companies, including marketing-and-talent representation firm Octagon and reinsurer Gen Re, have signed leases at 400 Atlantic.
Factoring in the newcomers, 400 Atlantic is 62% occupied, according to CBRE. The 15-story building covers about 500,000 square feet.
Extensive renovations have played a key role in tenant recruitment at 400 Atlantic, which George Comfort & Sons acquired for $72 million in 2022 from Charter. The company behind the Spectrum brand of cable, phone and internet services had been headquartered at 400 Atlantic for nearly a decade before opening in 2021 a custom-built, two-building headquarters a few blocks away, at 400 Washington Blvd.
In the past few years, George Comfort & Sons has overseen a similar comeback at the office complex that it owns a couple of blocks away, at 677-707 Washington Blvd. When it became an owner of that property about seven years ago, it stood as the city’s largest vacant office property, following banking giant UBS’ relocation of its local offices across the street, to 600 Washington Blvd. In the pavilion at 707 Washington, UBS had once operated one of the world’s largest trading floors.
Since then, renovations have attracted a number of companies to 677-707 Washington. In 2022, tobacco producer Philip Morris International opened its new main offices, after relocating from Manhattan. In 2023, sports-entertainment company WWE opened its new headquarters, with its space including a production center in the pavilion.
George Comfort & Sons declined to comment for this article.
In the first quarter of 2025, the office availability rate ran at about 23% in Stamford’s central business district and around 40% in the sections of Stamford outside the central business district, according to CBRE. During the same period, Fairfield County’s availability rate ran at 25%.

STAMFORD, CT - The King School community celebrated the ribbon-cutting ceremonies for the new Early Childhood Center and Sullivan Family Playground on Saturday, April 5. The event marked the completion of the first phase of the school's Master Plan, creating state-of-the-art spaces specifically designed for prekindergarten and kindergarten students.
"These spaces are more than beautiful spaces – they are strategic investments in our educational approach,” said Head of School Carol Maoz. “They are a testament to the generosity of our families and a sign of confidence in King School's future."
The Sullivan Family Playground features numerous elements designed for exploration and creative play. At its center stands a Viking Ship, complete with slides and climbing structures, conceived and built by prekindergarten parents.
"The ship is a playful yet powerful symbol of the school's mascot and spirit," Maoz noted. "These spaces will inspire generations of learners, creating a legacy of discovery, creativity, and growth that extends far beyond these walls."
Head of the King Lower School, Sandy Lizaire-Duff, emphasized how the new spaces support the school's educational philosophy: "In the Reggio Emilia approach, our environment is the 'third teacher' — working alongside parents and educators to inspire learning. Every detail here has been intentionally designed to support our educational philosophy."
The Early Childhood Center features prekindergarten and kindergarten classrooms filled with natural light, child-height bulletin boards, and interactive technologies. A time capsule created for the occasion will be unsealed during the junior year of current pre-K students and the senior year of current kindergartners.
Board Chair Mi-Sun Freeman, whose children attended King's Lower School, spoke about the transformative power of philanthropy: "Schools like King evolve not through wishful thinking but through the vision, commitment, and generosity of community members who believe deeply in our mission," Freeman said. "These spaces support the extraordinary work of our teachers, allowing them to apply their expertise and stretch teaching and learning in more innovative ways," she added.
Maoz and Freeman cut the ribbon, accompanied by lower school students and surrounded by cheers and enthusiasm.
After the ceremonial cutting of the playground ribbon, the eagerly waiting students were encouraged with the words affixed on the entryway of the new site: “Be safe, have fun, go play.”
The celebration included a musical performance by kindergartners and fourth-grade students who sang "Hooray for the World" and "Babala Gumbala," a traditional song from the Yaruba nation of Africa.
The new Early Childhood Center and Sullivan Family Playground represent King School's commitment to creating learning environments that spark curiosity and support the natural development of young children. They set the stage for future campus improvements outlined in the school's Master Plan.
King School is an independent day school in Stamford, CT, educating students in PreK through Grade 12. Students at King engage in an immersive and innovative curriculum that is anchored in an inquiry-based pedagogy that nurtures curiosity, intellectual growth, and character development.

Last week, a Nutmeg State resident claimed the largest Connecticut Lottery winnings in April so far.
On Thursday, April 10, a Stamford resident claimed a winning Lucky For Life ticket that awarded them $390,000, according to the Connecticut Lottery winners list. The ticket was purchased at Bedford Street Market in Stamford. It had a draw date of April 3, said Art Mongillo, manager of public affairs for the Connecticut Lottery.
The winner had the choice to claim the winnings as an annuity of $25,000 a year for life or a lump sum cash option of $390,000, according to the Lucky For Life prizes and odds page. The odds of winning were one in over 1.8 million.
Following the sale of the winning ticket, Bedford Street Market will receive a $2,500 retailer bonus, Mongillo said.
Lucky For Life players also have the chance to win $365,000 a year for life or a lump sum cash option of $5,750,000, according to the Lucky For Life prizes and odds page. The odds of winning that prize are one in over 30.8 million.
Lucky For Life drawings occur every night around 10:30 p.m. and cost $2 per wager, according to the Lucky For Life "how to play" page.
Players can either choose five different numbers from 1 to 48 and one lucky ball number from 1 to 18 or ask for a "Quick Pick," which lets the lottery terminal randomly pick the numbers, according to the game's "how to play" page. To win $365,000 a year for life, a player must match all five numbers plus the lucky ball, and to win $25,000 a year for life, they must match all five numbers, according to the game's prizes and odds page.
In December, a Madison resident claimed a winning Lucky For Life ticket and also chose the $390,000 lump sum cash option.
As of Tuesday morning, a winning $100,000 Cash5 ticket has remained unclaimed, according to the Connecticut Lottery unclaimed prizes list. The winning numbers are 3 - 11 - 23 - 31 - 33, and the winner must claim the prize by Oct. 10. The ticket was purchased at a Krauszer's Food Store located at 3300 Whitney Ave. in Hamden and has a draw date of Sunday, April 13.

Along with restaurants, an ordinance aims to ban single-use plastics at other establishments including cafes, bars, hospitals and schools.
STAMFORD, CT — An ordinance making its way through the Stamford Board of Representatives could ban single-use plastics, such as takeout containers, cups, lids, utensils and straws, from city restaurants and other establishments where food or drinks are prepared and packaged.
The proposed ordinance was submitted by Reps. Karen Camporeale (D-18), Megan Cottrell (D-4), Virgil de la Cruz (D-2), Jeffrey Stella (D-9), Nina Sherwood (D-8), and Ashley Ley (D-20).
"The purpose of this ordinance is to reduce environmental waste and the harmful effects of Single-Use Food Ware by requiring the use of Reusable Food Ware in Dine-In Establishments and Biodegradable Food Ware for Take-Out Orders in the City of Stamford," the ordinance says.
The ordinance notes that "the physical breakdown of plastic disposable Food Ware, including flatware, stirrers, cups, liquid splash sticks, and take-out containers, results in microplastics that enter the environment, food chain, and ultimately accumulate in the human body, leading to adverse health and environmental effects."
Additionally, the ordinance says "only a small portion of recyclable materials actually get recycled, and the City of Stamford can no longer sell its recyclables, resulting in single-use items costing Stamford taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars in hauling costs."

During a March 25 Board of Reps. Legislative and Rules Committee meeting, Camporeale also said the ordinance would help save businesses money.
According to the proposed ordinance, dine-in establishments must use reusable food ware for all on-premises consumption of food or beverages, with the exception of napkins which can be paper-based. The use of single-use food ware in dine-in establishments, including plastic utensils, plates, cups and trays, is prohibited.
A dine-in establishment is defined as "any business or institution in the City of Stamford that serves food or beverages for on-premises consumption, including but not limited to restaurants, cafeterias, cafes, bars, hospitals, schools, and senior living facilities."
"Reusable food ware" is "made from durable, non-plastic materials such as metal, ceramic, glass, bamboo, or wood, designed and intended for repeated use," the ordinance states.
The ordinance defines "single-use food ware" as food ware that's designed for one-time use, including items made of plastic, paper, or other disposable materials."
Dine-in establishments shall not provide plastic-lined food ware, and they shall provide straws and stirrers only upon customer request, the ordinance says, noting that straws and stirrers shall be biodegradable food ware and shall not contain plastic.
Take-out orders shall not be packaged in plastic-lined food ware, the ordinance says. Single-use food ware made of plastic is prohibited for take-out orders, except for containers containing soup or other liquid.
Additionally, the soup and liquid containers can only be made of plastics labeled with certain resin identification codes.
The use of black plastic containers is prohibited regardless of what resin ID code is used, the ordinance notes.
Amber Schmidt, New England Zero Waste Organizer for ReThink Disposable at Clean Water Fund, said during the March 25 meeting that black plastic is "problematic" and contains the toxic chemical styrene, which is the hard version of styrofoam - a material Stamford already has a ban on.
"We know it's federally recognized as a possible human carcinogen, so there is a health impact there when it comes to banning it," Schmidt said of styrene. "It cannot be recycled."
"Accessories," including but not limited to utensils, napkins, straws, stirrers and condiments, shall not be provided automatically with take-out orders. The items must be provided upon specific customer request, or through self-service stations accessible to customers, and must be biodegradable, the ordinance says.
Schmidt has assisted other municipalities on the issue of single-use plastics.
"The goal is to reduce our exposure to plastics and the toxics within them, while also eliminating street litter and the ongoing cost to the state and the cities to be shipping waste further and further away because we don't have the capacity in Connecticut to continue to trash and burn and landfill our items," she said during the March meeting. "What this ordinance does is it gets rid of the problematic plastics."
Those plastics cannot get recycled and they're filling landfills. When the plastics are burning in incinerators, they're polluting neighboring communities, Schmidt said.
The ordinance would go into effect six months after passage.
The Stamford Health Department, along with any other city department or agency designated by the mayor, shall be responsible for enforcing the ordinance.
According to the language, the first violation would result in a written notice, and subsequent violations would come with a $250 fine.
Money collected from violations would be deposited into a dedicated account called the Sustainability Fund, which would support sustainability initiatives and the enforcement and administration of the ordinance, the proposed language says.
A public hearing on the proposed ordinance was scheduled for April 29 during the Board of Reps. Legislative and Rules Committee meeting.
More information on the proposed ordinance can be found here.
