Family members said 18-year-olds Laina Green and Lah Tray Moo, along with 12-year-old Eh Cray Moo, are still missing.

The girls were swept away while fishing Tuesday.

In August 2021, 7-year-old Abi Gurung drowned at N.P. Dodge Park.

Restoring Dignity, a refugee advocacy nonprofit, said it now plans to start teaching families about the dangers of the Missouri River.

"And to teach other precautions about other bodies of water, too, which might be different from the landscape that they came from in their country, and so we need to educate about what's safe here in Omaha, so this doesn't happen again," said Hannah Vlach.

On Saturday, crews with Nebraska Game and Parks, Natural Resource Districts, Omaha fire and Bellevue fire will be out searching.

Omaha, NE (April 22, 2025) – A man in his 20s sustained significant injuries in a motorcycle crash Monday evening on I-680 near the Pacific Street exit. Emergency crews responded swiftly, and the injured rider was transported to the hospital as a trauma patient.

According to reports from Omaha Fire Department, the incident occurred at approximately 7:17 p.m. on April 21. The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, suffered road rash and lacerations across multiple areas of his body. Medics evaluated him at the scene and classified the case as a Code 3 Trauma, indicating the injuries were serious and required urgent hospital treatment.

The patient’s Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score was 13, suggesting that he was conscious but potentially disoriented or suffering from mild impairment due to the crash. He was transported to a local trauma center for further evaluation and care.

Details surrounding the cause of the crash—such as whether another vehicle was involved or whether road conditions played a role—have not yet been released. The crash remains under investigation by local authorities.

We extend our hopes for a full and speedy recovery to the injured rider.

Motorcycle Crash Risks in Nebraska

Motorcycle crashes like the one reported on I-680 and Pacific Street are a sobering reminder of the vulnerability motorcyclists face—even when wearing protective gear. A helmet can often mean the difference between life and death, but riders still face a high risk of injury in collisions or loss-of-control incidents.

In Nebraska, motorcyclists account for a disproportionate number of trauma cases relative to their overall traffic presence. High-speed roadways like I-680, which serve as key commuter routes in Omaha, pose particular risks due to fast-moving traffic, merging vehicles, and potential roadway debris.

Road rash and lacerations are common in motorcycle crashes and may require extensive treatment, including wound care, infection management, and physical therapy. Even with a GCS score of 13—which suggests moderate trauma—long-term monitoring is often needed to rule out internal injuries or cognitive effects.

For motorcycle crash victims, navigating the road to recovery can be daunting. Medical expenses, lost income, and insurance complications can quickly add stress to an already difficult situation. Legal support and medical coordination are often essential to ensure a full recovery—physically, emotionally, and financially.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a motorcycle crash like the one on I-680, Local Accident Reports is here to help. We connect riders and their families with the resources and professionals needed to manage recovery and understand their rights. Contact us today to get the support you need.

Omaha, NE (April 21, 2025) – Emergency crews responded to a serious two-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in South Omaha, resulting in two individuals being hospitalized—one in critical condition.

According to initial reports from local authorities, the crash occurred shortly after midnight near the intersection of 48th St and L St. Emergency medical services, along with Omaha Fire and Rescue, were dispatched to the scene, where they found both drivers injured following a high-speed collision.

Medics and fire crews worked swiftly to assist those suffering from a variety of injuries after the collision. One of the individuals sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital in critical condition. The other driver was also hospitalized but is expected to recover from non-life-threatening injuries.

Preliminary findings suggest that excessive speed played a major role in the crash. Although reports of street racing in the area were circulating around the time of the collision, investigators from the Nebraska State Patrol have clarified that this incident is not believed to be directly linked to those activities.

At this time, the Nebraska State Patrol is leading the investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the wreck. Officials have not yet released the identities of those involved.

We extend our sincerest hopes for a full recovery to both individuals injured in this devastating crash.

Speed-Related Crashes in Nebraska

High-speed accidents continue to be a major concern across Nebraska, especially in urban centers like Omaha where traffic density and nighttime driving conditions can create volatile situations. Intersections like 48th St and L St are known for moderate to heavy traffic flows, particularly on weekends when late-night activity increases.

In this case, although the crash occurred near an area where street racing was reported earlier, law enforcement officials have indicated no confirmed connection. However, it illustrates the broader dangers that come with aggressive driving and speed-related behaviors.

Speeding reduces a driver’s ability to react to sudden changes—whether it's a traffic light, a turning vehicle, or a pedestrian crossing. When collisions occur at high velocity, the severity of injuries and the likelihood of fatalities increase dramatically. According to the Nebraska Department of Transportation, speed-related crashes account for a significant percentage of traffic injuries across the state.

The fact that both drivers were seriously affected highlights the devastating impact high-speed crashes can have, even in the absence of other risk factors like impairment or distracted driving. This underscores the importance of continued education on safe driving practices and community enforcement to deter dangerous behavior behind the wheel.

Law enforcement continues to monitor areas prone to reckless driving, and residents are encouraged to report unsafe activity whenever observed. As investigations continue, it is possible that additional measures—such as increased patrols or enhanced traffic signage—may be implemented to promote safety in South Omaha neighborhoods.

If you or someone you care about has been injured in a crash involving speed or reckless driving, there are resources available to help you navigate the medical, legal, and emotional aftermath.

Crashes like this one in South Omaha are a sobering reminder of how quickly lives can change on the road. At Local Accident Reports, we believe in supporting victims and families through timely updates, compassionate guidance, and access to trusted local resources. If you need help following a serious accident, contact us today to learn how we can assist you on the path to recovery.

Three girls are still believed to be missing in the Missouri River.

Omaha Fire and Rescue, Bennington Fire and more crews have resumed their search Wednesday.

Previous coverage: Omaha first responders search for 3 teens in Missouri River

Officials on the scene said four girls were fishing and three of them entered the water near NP Dodge Park on Tuesday and they started struggling. It's unclear at this time why they entered the water.

A bystander assisted a 13-year-old girl who was crying by the side of the river. A 12-year-old and two 18-year-olds are still missing, according to the Omaha Fire Department.

The 13-year-old was taken to the hospital in serious condition. She was identified by family as Ehtheyu Paw.

One of the 18-year-old girls is Laiana Green, her family confirmed to KETV.

Family identified the 12-year-old girl as Eh Cress Moo and the other 18-year-old girl as Lah K Tray Moo.

Helicopters, drones and boats searched the river for the missing teens Tuesday night. First responders had to pull their boats and crews off the water for safety and visibility after it got dark.

Omaha fire said they found two pairs of shoes floating in the water, and they believe the four girls are related in some capacity.

Officials said the search Wednesday morning will be a recovery effort.

First responders ask the public to stay away from the park as the search continues.
