Oklahoma saw multiple tornado-warned storms on Tuesday, June 3. Not all storms produced a tornado, but they all had the capability. One tornado that was confirmed on the ground struck near Norman, Oklahoma.

Footage and photos of tornados is often hard to capture. Sometimes tornadoes are rain-wrapped or they touch down in the pitch black of night and can only be seen through strikes of lightning.

But on Tuesday the tornado that touched down near Norman occurred during the daytime and was not rain-wrapped, so residents in the area were able to get a lot of footage of the event. This also proves that people who have lived in Oklahoma all their lives go outside to see tornadoes before taking shelter.

Local news stations had storm spotters all across the state tracking severe weather. On Tuesday afternoon, a band of storms stretched all the way from the Oklahoma/Texas border all the way up to Oklahoma City, so all of the storm spotters and chasers were scattered along I-44. Luckily, there were several Oklahomans that live near Norman and Newcastle that were able to get incredible photos and footage from the tornado that touched down Tuesday.

All Oklahomans know that if you see that glowing teal in the sky during severe weather, it's best to execute your tornado safety plan. But first, snap a quick video.

Some people who were west of Norman or driving on the highway were able to get full video of the tornado and the giant supercell fueling it.

And some videos and photos taken by Oklahoma residents were picked up by national weather outlets.

The National Weather Service in Norman has yet to record the tornado in Norman. After the damage is assessed, the National Weather Service will rate the tornado and record the data.

According to the National Weather Service, large hail, gusty winds, and flash flooding are all possible through Tuesday evening as a round of storms move through Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Kansas and Iowa.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued early Tuesday afternoon for much of the state, and several tornado warnings were issued around the Oklahoma City metro. Meteorologists warn of winds as strong as 60 mph and hail ranging from the size of a penny to a quarter.

At 5:25 p.m., the National Weather Service reported that the threat of a tornado in the Norman area has lowered, though a tornado warning remains in effect.

Strong, straight-line damaging winds are possible, and residents should remain inside away from windows as storms continue moving through the city, NWS states.

News 9 Storm Trackers and Meteorologists are monitoring severe storms as the tornado threat increases through the afternoon on Tuesday.

6:40 p.m.: A Tornado Warning for Pontotoc County until 7:30 p.m.

6::30: A Tornado Warning has been issued for Murray County until 7:15 p.m.

6:20 p.m.: A Tornado Warning has been issued for Garvin, Pontotoc and Seminole counties until 7 p.m.

5:45 p.m.: A Tornado Warning has been issued for Garvin and Murray Counties until 6:30 p.m.

5:35 p.m.: A Tornado Watch has been issued for Carter, Garvin, Hughes, Jefferson, Lincoln, Love, Murray, Okfuskee, Pontotoc, Pottawatomie, Seminole, and Stephens County until 10 p.m.

4:44 p.m. Tom is near 59th and Anderson Road, looking north, where rotation is visible in a wall cloud. He says those in Choctaw should take safety precautions.

4:37 p.m. Pastrano is in SE OKC and the rotation in the wall cloud he is following has tightened.

4:31 p.m. A weakly rotating wall cloud was spotted in southeast Oklahoma City Tuesday afternoon, though storm trackers say it is unlikely to produce a tornado.

4:23 p.m. Sirens are being sounded at Tinker AFB.

4:21 p.m. Tornado warnings have been issued for Cleveland and Oklahoma Counties until 5 p.m.

4:13 p.m. Brandon Welles is tracking storms around Perry, Oklahoma, where a tornado has been confirmed to touch down.

4:07 p.m. Tornado confirmed to have touched down north of Perry.

3:54 p.m. A tornado warning has been issued for Noble County.

3:40 p.m. A developing hook echo was observed over Newcastle during a storm producing 50 mph winds and pea-sized hail. The storm's structure began to change, a sign that can precede intensification, and movement was directed toward Norman and Moore. Wind velocity was not yet severe, but the hook formation suggested a possible lowering and further development.

Oklahoma City Severe Weather Updates

NORMAN, Okla. —

Norman Regional Health System announced Monday it has laid off 300 employees, even cutting entire clinics.

The hospital system said it has eliminated 10% of its workforce across the board. Exactly where those cuts were made isn't clear, but those layoffs include some of the open positions that will not be filled.

"This action was necessary to ensure the long-term sustainability and independence of Norman Regional. Like many health systems across the country, we are facing rising costs, workforce shortages, and declining reimbursement. These challenges demand bold, proactive steps to preserve our ability to serve the community with high-quality, locally governed healthcare," the hospital system said in a statement.

Aaron Boyd, CEO and president of Norman Regional Health System, said this was one of the hardest decisions the hospital has had to make. It comes after they debated bringing another partner into the management but ultimately decided to remain independent.

“We are deeply grateful for the service and dedication of every team member impacted. These reductions are not a reflection of their contributions, but a necessary step to ensure our system remains viable. We are committed to supporting each individual through this transition and to honoring their time with us," Boyd said in a statement.

The Oklahoma Hospital Association told KOCO that hospitals across the state are feeling the burn right now.

“Admissions are down. ER admissions are down. Inpatient and outpatient admissions are down, and so, that might be a seasonal effect where we are currently today, but more than that there is a lot of uncertainty out there in the hospital community," Rich Rasmussen with the Oklahoma Hospital Association said.

In a letter sent to employees, Norman Regional apologized to employees who were fired.

"While the moment is painful, it is also part of a bold transformation. Operation Independence is designed to secure our future, maintain local control, and ensure that Norman Regional remains a trusted health partner for generations to come," the letter said.

The letter told the employees who are staying that this is part of the transformation to secure their future and remain part of the community.
