MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Today is a FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY. A long track line of hail producing thunderstorms tracked through southern Wisconsin this morning. Hail up to 3 inches in diameter was reported in some spots. Numerous severe thunderstorm warnings were posted beginning at around 5:15 a.m. and continuing until 8:15 am.
Extensive vehicle and structure damage was reported across a large swath of southern Wisconsin, including parts of Grant, Crawford, Iowa, Sauk, Lafayette, Dane, Green, Columbia, Dodge, Jefferson and Rock Counties.
More showers and thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon and evening. Low pressure is making its way through the area at this time. This wave of low pressure has drawn moisture northward into the state of Wisconsin. The result has been overnight scattered showers and thunderstorms with heavier, rainfall north of Madison.
For today, chances of picking up rain are better during the morning than the afternoon, but there will still be at least a few scattered showers around both afternoon and evening. Late afternoon and evening, some of the storms could be strong or severe southeast of Madison.
What’s Coming Up...
As our low exits to the east tonight, wind will shift to westerly. That is going to allow cooler temperatures to make their way back into southern Wisconsin for the weekend.
High temperatures will return to the 50s both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday looks quiet with partial sunshine, but by Sunday, another wave of low pressure will be approaching. More clouds are anticipated and rain will become likely later in the day. At this point Easter Sunday morning is looking dry.
Looking Ahead...
The weather pattern will remain active and scattered showers are expected into the first part of next week as well. Temperatures will begin to recover though, and highs are expected to return to the 60s.

This Underrated Midwestern City Is a Top Trending Destination for Summer—and It Has Legendary Cheeses, Award-winning Restaurants, and 2 Stunning Lakes
Rachel Changhttps://www.travelandleisure.com/madison-wisconsin-trending-summer-2025-destination-google-flights-11708221

When I first landed in Madison, Wisconsin, a few weeks ago, I only had faint memories of the city based on a family trip I went on nearly three decades ago. I remembered a quintessential Midwestern experience—but what I found was a well-rounded city that had grown and was now undeniably diverse in its experiences, architecture, cuisines, and people.
Now, the city landed a spot in the top 10 trending domestic destinations in Google Flights' 2025 Summer Travel Trends Report, which is based on search data for flights scheduled to take place between June 1 and Aug. 31.
2025 Summer Travel Trends Other U.S. cities on Google's list of trending domestic destinations include San Juan, Puerto Rico; Billings, Montana; Nantucket, Massachusetts; St. Louis; Providence, Rhode Island; Maui, Hawaii; Omaha, Nebraska; Juneau, Alaska; and Bangor, Maine.
Madison is one of just two American cities built on an isthmus (Seattle is the other) and the city is sandwiched between Mendota and Monona Lakes, two of five lakes in the area—that means there are waterfront views in almost every direction you look. This city of about 280,000 people is the capital of Wisconsin, aka "America's Dairyland," a nickname emblazoned on every license plate.
Having recently visited Toulouse, France, I thought nothing could compare to French cheese—until I tried the bespoke tasting experience at Fromagination. If you're down for a little road trip, drive 14 miles south to the small town of Paoli. Here, Seven Acre Dairy Company has transformed a former dairy factory into a boutique hotel, restaurant, and ice cream shop.
But Wisconsin has a thriving agricultural scene that goes well beyond dairy. On Saturdays from April 12 to Nov. 8, the downtown Capitol Square transforms into the country’s largest producers-only farmers market. During my early March visit, I caught an abbreviated version, the Late Winter Market, held within Garver Feed Mill, a repurposed turn-of-the-century landmark.
Next door, you'll find the Olbrich Botanical Gardens, where you can see the Royal Thai Sala, an open-air pavilion crafted in Bangkok and rebuilt here by Thai artisans without any screws or nails. And Madison's international influences only continued to lure me through the city with its cuisine.
I started at the Laos-inspired Ahan, by James Beard nominee chef Jamie Brown-Soukaseume, where the khao poon kathi dang (coconut red curry soup) and chevre-filled wontons looked just as beautiful as they were delicious. Then I went for a nightcap at Paul’s Pel’meni, popular with the college crowd since a half order of the hearty Russian dumplings is just $7. Order them with “the works," which includes butter, cilantro, sour cream, yellow curry, and sweet chili sauce.
I'm always searching for cuisine from my parents' home country of Taiwan, and I was blown away by Taiwan Little Eats. Its Tainan-style braised pork over rice was hands down one of the most authentic versions of the dish I had outside of the island nation, and tasting it brought me back to my trips there.
Besides its cheese and fast-growing culinary scene, Madison is perhaps best known as the hometown of architect Frank Lloyd Wright, known for his revolutionary style of American architecture. Of the eight sites along the state’s 200-mile-long Frank Lloyd Wright Trail, two of them are in Madison: the Monona Terrace, a community center completed in 1997, and First Unitarian Society Meeting House, an icon since its 1951 completion.
And though it's not a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed building, it's also worth checking out the Capitol Building, completed in 1917 using 43 kinds of stones from six countries and eight states. (Pro-tip: consider joining one of the free tours to hear all about its history.)
The city's convenient location within the state puts you within easy proximity to other Wisconsin highlights, including Wisconsin Dells about an hour northwest, Milwaukee about 90 minutes east, and La Crosse about 2.5 hours west. For Wright chasers, his former home and studio, Taliesin located in Spring Green, is about an hour west.

With 'Farmer Wants a Wife' returning tonight, what to know about Wisconsin contestant Karina Sabol

"Farmer Wants a Wife" Season 3 premieres Thursday night on Fox. And Wisconsin will rightfully be repped again.
Last year, we had Grace Girard, a University of Wisconsin-Madison grad who was living in Caledonia. This time, we have Madison's Karina Sabol, an outdoors enthusiast and former All-American gymnast at another UW school, Whitewater.
Before Sabol makes her "FWAW" debut, let's go over the basics, from her job and hobbies to how she ended up on the show:
Where is Karina Sabol from?
Sabol was born and raised in Middleton, Wisconsin. She now lives in nearby Madison.
How old is Karina Sabol?
24
Where did Karina Sabol go to high school? college?
Sabol is a 2019 Middleton High School graduate. She went on to study business administration at UW-Whitewater, where she graduated a year early, in 2022.
What is Karina Sabol's job?
Sabol is a new business and operations manager for Delafield-based Gunpowder Incorporated, a public relations and advertising agency that specializes in outdoor and active lifestyle brands. She's been with the agency since during her senior year of college.
Sabol also coaches at Madison's Lake City Twisters Gymnastics and volunteers with the Mount Horeb High School gymnastics team.
What are Karina Sabol's hobbies?
Sabol, who has five siblings, enjoys hanging out with her family, aka her "best friends."
With her family having a Cross Plains horse farm, Sabol is an avid rider.
In the winter, Sabol snowshoes and hikes the Ice Age Trail with her parents' dogs (she considers herself their "fun aunt"). When summer rolls around, she's exploring downtown Madison.
For years, Sabol has been taking trips to the Lake Wisconsin area, where Vintage Brewing Co. Sauk Prairie, Devil's Lake State Park and boating to sand bars are musts.
"Anything that gets me outside are my primary go-to spots," she said.
How did Karina Sabol do in gymnastics?
Sabol, 24, started gymnastics at age 5, though her older sisters taught her a thing or two ahead of time, she said. She trained at Madtown Twisters in Madison from around age 6 through high school.
From a pretty young age, she said, she knew she wanted to take her gymnastics career as far as it could go.
During high school, Sabol was injured while doing the uneven bars — which she called the most impactful event of her life. But, she was able to come back from that and competed for UW-Whitewater.
Her accolades for floor exercise included National Collegiate Gymnastics Association All-America, the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association first team All-America, the NCGA West All-Championship Team, Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference/NCGA West Regional champion (All-WIAC) and first team All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, among others. She was also honored for her academics, including WCGA Scholastic All-America.
Why did Karina Sabol apply for 'Farmer Wants a Wife'?
When Sabol's friend suggested last year that the two of them should apply for "Love Island," Sabol thought the dating show that she had been learning about on the "Discover Ag" podcast would be "more of a fit.'"
That would, of course, be "Farmer Wants a Wife."
Sabol applied for "FWAW" last summer, went through the casting process, got selected for the show and left for filming around September.
What is Karina Sabol's dating history?
After dating on-and-off during college, Sabol turned to dating apps when she returned to Madison post-grad. But, she found that those were not really her vibe and "very surface-level."
While she met some prospects through mutual friends, nothing stuck.
Enter: "FWAW."
Who is the farmer Karina Sabol is vying for?
Sabol and a handful of other daters will be attempting to wrangle the heart of Farmer J'Marick "Jay" Woods.
In addition to Woods, there'll be three other farmers — Matt Warren, John Sansone and Colton Hendricks — each with a crop of daters looking to "leave behind city life for the charm of the country as they embark on an adventure that could change the course of their lives forever," the network said in a news release.
Woods — who previously played football for Michigan and Duke — is a hay and cattle farmer from Florence, Alabama, Fox said.
His show bio said: "Despite not being initially perceived as a typical 'cowboy,' Jay grew up in the country of Alabama on his grandfather’s horse farm surrounded by family — farming, hunting, kayaking, fishing and anything else that kept him outdoors surrounded by animals. When Jay’s original dream of becoming a pro athlete while playing football at Duke was crushed due to an injury, he began to reflect on the times in his life that made him the happiest to determine his next steps. Choosing to return to his roots was easy, and he’s never looked back. While Jay felt pressure playing college football, it's nothing compared to the massive pressure his mom's been putting on him lately, asking about grandbabies!"
Woods is looking for a kind-hearted, refined and confident woman, who isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty on the farm.
He graduated from Michigan in winter 2019 with a degree in kinesiology and got his master's in management studies from Duke in spring 2021, according to his Duke bio.
It appears that Sabol and Woods have a heck of a lot in common (read about it here).
A preview of 'Farmer Wants a Wife' Season 3
"As the ladies immerse themselves in the realities of farm life, some will blossom while some will head out to pasture, and only time will tell if they have the patience, spirit and adaptability required to be a farmer’s wife," a Fox news release said.
During the journey, the farmers and their daters will travel to Alabama for a speed dating event, Tennessee for a country ball and Texas for an overnight camping mixer.
New this season: The final daters will bring their families back to the farms, where their loved ones will experience first-hand what it's like living in the countryside.
Plus, there's a new host: Kimberly Williams-Paisley, an actress, New York Times bestselling author, co-founder of The Store nonprofit and wife of country music superstar Brad Paisley.
The changeup comes after two seasons with Grammy Award-winning country star Jennifer Nettles at the helm.
How to watch the 'Farmer Wants a Wife' Season 3 premiere
The "FWAW" Season 3 premiere airs at 8 p.m. CT Thursday on Fox (and streams on Hulu the next day).
