GILBERT, AZ — Gilbert will be home to Arizona’s first Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille!
According to a representative of the company, the fine dining restaurant will open at Northside at SanTan Village in Gilbert.
“We’ve been waiting for the right moment to introduce Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille to Arizona and are excited to finally make our way into the greater Phoenix area,” said Chris Perry, founder and owner of Perry’s Restaurants, in a news release sent to ABC15. “From our roots as a humble meat market, we’ve grown to focus not only on great food, but also [on] creating a unique dining experience - and we are eager to welcome guests to our 8th location outside of Texas.”
The 11,000-square-foot restaurant will accommodate up to 350 people and will feature a dining room, four private dining rooms, a wine wall, Bar 79, and patio dining.
The restaurant is slated to open in Spring 2026.

Thompson Thrift, a full-service nationally recognized real estate company, announced today the commencement of construction for The Gilmore, a $225 million, 35-acre mixed-use development in the Phoenix suburb of Gilbert. The Gilmore will provide 300 luxury apartment homes, a hotel, and approximately 200,000 square feet of grocery, boutique restaurant and retail space. The company expects retailers to begin opening in the latter half of 2026 and first resident move-ins to begin in early 2027.
“This project is a testament to the strength of Thompson Thrift’s One Team approach,” said Dan Sink, president and CFO of Thompson Thrift Development. “By leveraging our expertise across construction, residential and commercial development, we plan to deliver a thoughtfully designed destination that enhances the Gilbert community and provides long-term value for residents and businesses alike.”
Located at the northwest corner of Val Vista Drive and Germann Road, just off Loop 202, The Gilmore is strategically positioned in the heart of the Southeast Valley. More than 25 leases have been signed so far and include a 64,000-square-foot Safeway, as well as Better Buzz Coffee, Handel’s Ice Cream, Jersey Mike’s, Sweathouz, Rebel Wine Lounge, Square 1 Food Hall, Honey Go Nails, Level 1 Arcade, Outcast Doughnuts, Nook Kitchen, EDO Japan, Over Easy and Phantom Fox Brewery.
Later this year Thompson Thrift will begin construction on the vertically integrated multifamily portion of the development. The Residences at The Gilmore will consist of 300 studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartment homes in a variety of layouts averaging 1,000 square feet of living space.

GILBERT, AZ (AZFamily) — A new East Valley bookstore invites guests to sit on the patio and enjoy a good romance book!
The Bookish Shop, located in downtown Gilbert, is a romance-specific bookstore. The store’s owner, Justine Woods, joined Good Morning Arizona to show us a peek inside the quaint shop.
“So we started as a subscription box company offering special edition books. We’re about to be in our 10th year in May. And then last year, I really decided that I wanted to start figuring out how to make it be more of a local community. We have a really awesome online community, but I wanted somewhere local that people could go enjoy our books, get introduced to new books, and this felt like the right spot,” Woods said.
The response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive, with book lovers flocking to the shop. Guests can attend the grand opening on Friday, April 4.
Woods shared why romance is among the best-selling genres right now.
“I think it is approachable to everybody because there’s so many subgenres in it, so if you’re looking for something lighthearted or if you’re looking for something that’s going to be a fantasy epic tale with political intrigue, there’s just so much more to romance than just, you know, person meets person,” she explained.

Description: A development dubbed The Gilmore is set to bring retail and housing on a 35-acre lot of land along the northwest corner of Val Vista Drive and Germann Road near Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, and is poised to break ground in late April 2025.
The $200 million development will include 197,000 square feet of new commercial development, along with about 300 apartment units.
The grocery chain Safeway will anchor the project.
Several other tenants have signed leases, including restaurants, fitness and wellness companies at The Gilmore.

More restaurants are under lease negotiations, according to Jake Heims with Thompson Thrift Development.
A med spa, a pet grooming business and a nail salon are also on the list of businesses poised to open at The Gilmore.
A 105-room, four-story hotel is also proposed at the development, but no tenant has been announced.
History of the site: The town council approved a rezoning request to change nearly 8 acres of the property from commercial to residential for the project in 2022.
For years, the site has sat as a vacant parcel of agricultural land.
When will the work be done? The retail portion of the project will begin construction in April, opening sometime between late 2026 and early 2027, according to Heims. The multifamily phase is set to go vertical in August or September, with the first residents to move in early 2027, he said.
