Located at the southwest corner of Pecos and Greenfield Roads, Tri Pointe intends to develop the land into a new residential community named Lusitano that includes 76 preliminary platted homesites, with sales anticipated to begin in 2027.

Tri Pointe intends to self-develop the residential community with plans that include new homes, trails, and a small pocket park. GILBERT, AZ (AZFamily) — A new East Valley bookstore invites guests to sit on the patio and enjoy a good romance book!

The Bookish Shop, located in downtown Gilbert, is a romance-specific bookstore. The store’s owner, Justine Woods, joined Good Morning Arizona to show us a peek inside the quaint shop.

“So we started as a subscription box company offering special edition books. We’re about to be in our 10th year in May. And then last year, I really decided that I wanted to start figuring out how to make it be more of a local community. We have a really awesome online community, but I wanted somewhere local that people could go enjoy our books, get introduced to new books, and this felt like the right spot,” Woods said.

The response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive, with book lovers flocking to the shop. Guests can attend the grand opening on Friday, April 4.

Woods shared why romance is among the best-selling genres right now.

“I think it is approachable to everybody because there’s so many subgenres in it, so if you’re looking for something lighthearted or if you’re looking for something that’s going to be a fantasy epic tale with political intrigue, there’s just so much more to romance than just, you know, person meets person,” she explained.

Embry-Riddle celebrated their five seniors and earned the four game sweep over Park Gilbert on Wednesday at Eagle Softball Field winning the first game of the day 12-4 in six innings followed by a walk-off single by Anise Romo to win the second game 8-7.

Game 1

The Eagles set the tone early, scoring two runs in the first inning. Autumn Sulusi hit a powerful home run to right field, driving in Leah Salas and giving Embry-Riddle a 2-0 lead.

Embry-Riddle's offensive onslaught continued in the second inning. Lily Anderson hit a two-run homer to left field, followed by Sulusi and Katie Jamieson contributing RBI singles. The Eagles added five runs, extending their lead to 7-0. Despite a brief rally by Park-Gilbert in the third inning, where they scored four runs, the Eagles maintained their dominance.

Salas was a standout performer, going 3-for-4 with three doubles and scoring three runs. Sulusi was equally impressive, driving in five runs with four hits, including a home run. Jade Bayless added a two-run homer in the fifth inning, further solidifying the Eagles' lead.

On the mound, Vanessa Brink delivered a solid performance, pitching a complete game with five strikeouts and allowing only four earned runs. Brink also got her second hit of her collegiate career, a single to right field.

Game 2

The Eagles started strong, scoring four runs in the first inning. Sulusi delivered a clutch double to left field, driving in three runs and setting the tone for the game. Jamieson followed with an RBI single, extending the lead to 4-1.

Embry-Riddle maintained their momentum in the second inning with Salas hitting a solo home run to center field. Despite the Buccaneers' efforts to close the gap, the Eagles' defense held firm, with Claire Streeter pitching effectively and recording key outs.

The Buccaneers mounted a comeback in the fifth inning, scoring four runs to tie the game at 6-6.

Jade Bayless hit a solo home run in the fifth inning, providing a crucial insurance run. The Buccaneers managed to tie the game in the top of the 6th inning at 7-7, but Romo provided a single with the bases loaded to give ERAU the win. Brink earned her second win of the day as she came in and pitched a clean top of the 7th inning for the Eagles.

Embry-Riddle will be the #2 seed for the upcoming GSAC Conference Tournament hosted at Eagle Softball Field. ERAU will play Arizona Christian on Tuesday at 12pm.

GILBERT, AZ — You'll soon be able to say, “It's Bo Time,” in the Valley! Bojangles, the North Carolina-based chain specializing in fried chicken, biscuits, and tea, has acquired a location in the East Valley, according to Diversified Partners LLC.

Diversified Partners LLC, a commercial real estate agency in Scottsdale, confirmed to ABC15 that they have sold “a parcel on Val Vista & Melrose [in] Gilbert, AZ (just north of Chipotle) to the Bojangles developer.”

Brandon Vasquez- VP Brokerage & Development at Diversified Partners, LLC- sent the following statement to ABC15 regarding the new restaurant coming to Gilbert.

Last spring, Bojangles announced its multi-unit development agreement that would bring 20 new restaurants to our state.

The company previously stated the following about the state’s expansion:

ABC15 has reached out to Bojangles regarding the Gilbert storefront but has not heard back.

The opening date for the new Gilbert establishment has yet to be announced.

GILBERT, AZ — After two men took her wheelchair out of her driveway in February, a Gilbert woman is getting a new wheelchair today thanks to the generosity of an ABC15 viewer.

Paula Gillette-West fought and beat cancer, but during her fight, she had to have her leg amputated.

When she returned home one day in February, she found her custom wheelchair had been taken out of her driveway.

After ABC15 was the first to report the theft, viewer Josh Turner called the station and said he and his law firm would cover the cost of the new chair.

On Friday, Paula got the new chair!
