Cary, NC (April 25, 2025) – A crash with injuries caused delays and prompted a large emergency response Thursday morning in Cary. The incident occurred around 8:00 a.m. at the busy intersection of High House Rd and Jenks Carpenter Rd.
First responders, including paramedics, assessed and treated individuals hurt in the crash. Multiple emergency units from Cary Fire Department arrived on scene shortly after the collision to manage traffic, aid those injured, and begin a preliminary investigation.
Traffic congestion in the area increased as lanes were temporarily closed to accommodate the emergency response and ensure the safety of those involved. Authorities have not yet shared information regarding how many people were injured or the types of vehicles involved. Police have confirmed that the cause of the crash remains under active investigation, with officers working to determine if driver error, road conditions, or other factors played a role.
Our thoughts go out to everyone impacted by this collision as recovery efforts begin.
Traffic Challenges at Cary Intersections
Intersections like High House Rd and Jenks Carpenter Rd are known to experience increased traffic during morning commute hours, which can heighten the risk of crashes. Cary's rapid development and growing population have contributed to heavier traffic volumes, particularly on key arterial roads. As drivers rush to reach workplaces or schools, small miscalculations or distractions can quickly result in injury-producing accidents.
This particular intersection has seen increased attention from residents due to its complex layout and high traffic flow. When crashes occur at intersections during peak hours, the ripple effects can be felt throughout the local traffic network, causing delays and putting additional pressure on emergency services.
After any crash, injured individuals face a host of challenges, including navigating insurance claims, dealing with physical recovery, and managing emotional distress. It is important for those involved in such incidents to seek medical care and consult professionals to protect their rights and wellbeing.

The North Carolina-based grocery store Lowes Foods is closing another location in the Triangle.
Its store at 930 High House Road in Cary will shutter, Triangle Business Journal reported.
The last day to shop the store, located at the Preston Corners shopping center at the intersection with Cary Parkway, will be Wednesday, May 14.
Kelly Davis, a senior director of guest engagement for Lowes Foods, told TBJ the company decided not to renew its lease.
The closure of the High House Road store leaves two other Lowes Foods locations in Cary — at 6430 Tryon Road and 687 Mills Park Drive. Several other grocers, including North Carolina-based Harris Teeter and Food Lion, Aldi, Lidl and Trader Joe’s, operate stores in Cary.
The nearby town of Apex also has a Lowes Foods at 5400 Apex Peakway.
Lowes Foods did not immediately respond to The News & Observer’s request for more information.
This is Lowes Foods’ latest North Carolina location to close. Last summer, the company shared that it would close stores in Raleigh (8201 Rowlock Way) and Wilmington.
These store closures were part of a “broader growth strategy to invest in new stores and remodel existing stores.”
Lowes Foods announced at the time “store openings pending” in Concord, Kannapolis and Waxhaw in North Carolina, and Indian Land and Lexington in South Carolina. The Concord location opened in August.
Lowes Foods, which is headquartered in Winston-Salem, has more than 80 stores across North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.
According to a recent report, Lowes Foods had a 4% market share in Raleigh’s core-based statistical area (which includes Wake, Franklin and Johnston counties) and a 1.8% market share in the Durham-Chapel Hill core-based statistical area (which includes Durham, Orange, Chatham and Person counties) in 2024. To compare, Walmart had a more than 20% market share in both core-based statistical areas last year.

Lowes Foods will close a Cary store in a busy corridor.
The grocery chain based in Winston-Salem is closing its store at 930 High House Road in the Preston Corners shopping center at the intersection with Cary Parkway near Prestonwood Country Club.
The store’s last day will be May 14.
Kelly Davis, senior director of guest engagement at Lowes, said the store’s lease is up and the company decided not to renew. She declined to share the store’s finances.
The store was remodeled in 2014. Its neighbors in the retail center, owned by Northpond Partners of Chicago, include the Cary Ballet Company, Miso Ramen Bar Cary, Kung Fu Tea and The Parkway Tavern.
Northpond did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the future of the grocery space.
Shoppers who frequented the store will not be deprived of grocery options. There is a Publix, two Harris Teeters, two Food Lions, H Mart, Fresh Market, Target and Trader Joe’s all within a 10-minute drive of the Lowes Foods location.
Other Lowes Foods in Apex and at Cary Mills Park are both six miles away.
The grocer continues to reevaluate its locations as the Triangle’s grocery wars heat up. Last summer, Lowes Foods shuttered its Cornerstone Commons outpost in northwest Raleigh. Meanwhile, the company has opened stores in Pittsboro and Winterville in recent years.
The company is still looking to grow in the Triangle. Lowes appears to potentially be eyeing Wendell and Fuquay-Varina, although those deals are still in negotiation, Davis said.
In 2024, Lowes Foods ranked No. 8 in the Raleigh-Cary area for grocery market share at 4.01 percent and approximately $265 million in sales. The grocer had 16 stores in the Raleigh and Durham metros last year. In the Durham-Chapel Hill area, Lowes ranked No. 12 with $37.9 million in sales last year.
"We are always looking at opportunities as they come up," she said.
Founded in 1954 in North Wilkesboro, Lowes has approximately 100 stores in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, according to its website.

A new eatery is now open for business in Cary.
Garden City, New Jersey-based restaurant chain The Halal Guys, which specializes in American Halal cuisine, opened its first Triangle location in Cary on Saturday.
The location, at 2000 Boulderstone Way, marks the chain's second restaurant in the state, just off the heels of opening its first in Charlotte in 2024.
The Halal Guys menu features authentic American Halal dishes, including platters and sandwiches, plus the brand’s chicken wings and varieties of hummus and desserts.
Founded in 1990, the chain now has locations in five countries and in 18 U.S. states.
Two Triangle cities have been named among the best places to start a business in the U.S.
A new study from WalletHub compared the relative startup opportunities that exist in 100 large U.S. cities using 19 key metrics, ranging from the five-year business-survival rate to labor costs to office-space affordability.
The resulting list found that Raleigh was the ninth best place to start a business, buoyed by its access to resources. Durham ranked No. 12 and also showed strength in the access to resources category.
Other North Carolina locales also fared well on the list. Charlotte ranked just behind the Bull City at No. 13 — and Winston-Salem (31) and Greensboro (37) also finished in the top 50.
Topping the list was Orlando followed by Tampa, Florida, and Austin, Texas. Six Florida cities ranked among the top 10.
Five private schools in the Triangle boast more than 1,000 students, according to Triangle Business Journal research.
In TBJ’s latest list of Triangle Nonpublic Schools, Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh still reigns as the largest with 1,600 students enrolled for 2025-26. The school has been atop the rankings for the last decade.
Two other Raleigh schools, North Raleigh Christian Academy and Ravenscroft now have more than 1,200 students enrolled.
Durham Academy and Thales Academy Apex K-12 also have more than 1,200 students each.
The 25 largest private schools in the Triangle have a combined 2025-26 enrollment of nearly 21,000.

A gaming studio in Orlando that has grown to 30 employees is officially launching its debut game later this year — and a former Wake Forest University football star and NFL player is the origin of it all.
As the founder and financial backer of Marauder Tech Games, an independent AA mobile gaming studio, Morgan Kane is leading the launch of the studio’s debut game, Price of Glory, on iOS and Android devices later this year, the Orlando Business Journal reports. An open alpha testing version of the game is currently available for download.
Kane played four seasons as a running back at WFU before signing a pro free agent contract with the Carolina Panthers in 2000. An all-conference player as a senior in college, Kane had brief stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jacksonville Jaguars and Baltimore Ravens and played one season in Europe with the Amsterdam Admirals.
The global mobile game market is projected to reach $126 billion in revenue in 2025 and grow by 5.5 percent over the next four years, according to statista.com.

The brewery closed a taproom last year and now faces more than $1.7 million in debts.
Another local craft brewery has filed for bankruptcy.
Brueprint Brewing Company in Cary filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy this month. The brewery’s last day in operation at its Kildaire Farm Road location in the Millpond Village shopping mall was May 28 of last year, according to social media.
Bankruptcy documents show the brewery’s assets total $107,795 while its liabilities total $1.78 million. The brewery’s revenue in 2023 was $244,028. For 2024 before closing in May, revenue reached $62,612.
Brueprint's liquidation bankruptcy comes on the heels of another craft brewer in Cary filing to reorganize its debts. Cotton House Craft Brewers filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy with plans to stay open. Brewers in the Triangle do not have it easy right now as costs — including tariffs on aluminum — continue to rise amid changing customer habits.
Gizmo Brew Works in Raleigh exited bankruptcy in September after filing last March.
Eric Wagner, Brueprint founder and CEO, and his attorney, Ciara Rogers with Waldrep Wall Babcock & Bailey, did not return requests for comment.
The brewery's largest creditor listed is Tod Schild, who is owed more than $1 million. In December, Schild won a lawsuit against the brewery for breach of contract and was awarded a judgement of $1,055,000.
The second largest creditor is the U.S. Small Business Administration for the amount of $257,400. Documents also list a blanket lien from the SBA for $192,200. SBA loans have been tied to multiple bankruptcies in the Triangle in recent years.
Wagner, a former water engineer, opened the first brewery in Apex in 2014. Wagner brewed a wide variety of beers, including pilsners, brown ales, IPAs and lagers. Fresh Market, Food Lion, Harris Teeter and other stores carried Brueprint beers, according to its website.
In 2020, Brueprint ranked No. 13 on Triangle Business Journal’s list of the largest Triangle breweries, brewing 1,800 barrels in 2019. The brewery had 14 employees at the time.
