In the Commonwealth Athletic Conference, Jack Mangone, Joshua Stover and Ben Hickey all had extra base hits while seventh grader, Cam Maccone, went 1-for-3 with three RBI as Mystic Valley defeated Lynn Tech 13-2.

Travers Moodie pitched a complete game with 12 strikeouts, while Jayden Burns went 2-for-3 with two RBI as Medford defeated Malden 7-3 in the Greater Boston League.

Ryan Levesque pitched all five innings on the mound, striking out nine and giving up two hits while delivering two hits and four RBI at the plate as Apponequet (4-1) bested West Bridgewater 12-1 in South Coast Conference action. Gabe Zuber drove in three runs for the Lakers.

Scott Longo punched out 10 over five and a third innings of one-hit ball, and went on to drive home the winning run with a single for Milton in a 2-1 victory over Attleboro in the Steven J. Sullivan Tournament. … Aidan McCarthy struck out two over four and two-thirds while finishing with two hits (including a triple), an RBI, two runs and a stolen base, and Max LaMonica doubled, tripled, drove in four runs and scored two runs as North Quincy defeated Quincy, 11-6.

Sophomore Will Jones tossed a complete game, striking out six as Hingham held on for a 3-1 victory over Marshfield in Patriot League play.

BOYS LACROSSE

Dexter Izzo (six goals), Cooper Masso (three goals, five assists), Mikey Ferraro (three goals) and Blake Masso (three goals) paced Bishop Feehan (6-2) offensively in an 18-9 win over King Philip.

In a Cape Ann League game, Luke Wile Jr. notched four goals and four assists while Vin Winter Jr. added another three goals to lead Ipswich to an 11-3 victory over Hamilton-Wenham.

Colin Driscoll and Tony Giacchino had identical stat lines, each recording a hat trick to go with a pair of assists as Masconomet cruised to a 17-3 romp of Salem in the Northeastern Conference.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Senior Karina Bosco sniped five goals, eclipsing 300 for her career while adding a pair of assists and 10 draw controls as Dighton-Rehoboth (5-3) registered an 18-5 nonleague victory over Taunton.

In the Cape Ann League, Allie Wile (five goals) and Ella McCarthy (four goals, two assists) carried things on the attack, as Ipswich kept on rolling with a 15-8 win over Hamilton-Wenham.

In the Northeastern Conference, senior captain Madeline Reynolds (16 saves) shattered the program record for career saves (436 overall), while freshman Ashley Wallace sniped the game-ending goal in double overtime as Beverly topped Swampscott 13-12.

Jill Martin netted a hat trick, while Catherine Craig (assist), Jualianna Lanzillo (assist), and Anna Bierwirth scored two goals apiece as Chelmsford (4-3) downed North Andover 11-8 in the Merrimack Valley Conference.

SOFTBALL

Marissa Kelly (3-for-5, three RBI, three runs), Zoe Trinque (1-for-1, RBI, two runs, walk), Hailey DaRosa (1-for-2, three RBI, two runs, three walks), Kate Suneson (3-for-4, home run, RBI, four runs, walk) and Sarah DelVecchio (1-for-3, RBI, two runs) sparked an offensive eruption for Apponequet (8-0) in a 20-2 South Coast Conference win over West Bridgewater. … Abigail Sievers (3-for-4, four RBI, two runs), Sasha Asci (3-for-3, two runs), Lily Enos (2-for-3, home run, three RBI, run) and Mia Teixeira (2-for-4, two RBI, three runs) fueled an 18-hit onslaught by the Greater New Bedford (4-3) offense in a 12-5 win over Old Rochester. … Kylie Smith went 3-for-4 with three RBI and Camryn Cloonan homered as Dighton-Rehoboth defeated Somerset Berkley, 11-4.

In a Middlesex League contest, Molly Burns (5-for-6, home run, four RBI), Caroline Burns (homer, six RBI), Jackie Sullivan (four RBI) and Kayla Shaw (four RBI) all had great days offensively as Wakefield erupted for a wild 24-12 victory over Woburn.

Maddie Blette set the tone early with a two-run homer, while Maggie Schlossberg finished with 12 strikeouts in the circle to pace East Bridgewater during a 2-0 nonleague shutout of Mansfield. … Jill Ondrick fired a one-hitter and struck out 13, while Viv Palazzo, Robin Flatley and Willa Abbott drove in two runs each as Weymouth took down Pembroke 10-0 in five innings. … Abby Tower and Vanessa Iandolli went 2-for-5 with three RBI apiece, while Julianna Cappiello finished 3-for-6 with two RBI and a triple as Tewksbury bested Wilmington 16-10 in eight innings. Anya Cranston went 3-for-6 with an RBI also for the Redmen.

Aysia Olaes struck out nine and surrendered one earned run over four innings while finishing 3-for-4 with a three-run home run and four RBI as Lynn Classical beat Somerville 16-4 in the Greater Boston League. Aliany Ramirez went 3-for-4 and drove in a run as well for the Rams.

PLAINVILLE— A grand slam from Olivia Petrillo in the first inning provided all the run support McCoy Walsh needed in King Philip’s 5-1 non-league softball victory over Bishop Feehan.

Both teams entered undefeated and had strong pitchers in the circle. The Patriot’s Day matchup was set to be a big test for both teams and Warriors head coach Kate Fallon said the sting of last season’s loss to the Shamrocks was still in her team’s heads.

“This was a good challenge for us,” Fallon said. “That’s a good team over there. We love good competition.”

After a clean first inning from Walsh the Warriors hitters got to work. A walk, a hit batter and a bunt single from Cheyenne Murray set the table for cleanup hitter Liv Petrillo.

“We make each other more comfortable,” Fallon said. “Cheyenne getting that bunt down and not getting out, Liv knew she had to do something. They pick each other up.”

That’s when Petrillo delivered the grand slam over the left-center wall. She credited some extra work put in pregame with her father as something that kept her feeling confident at the plate.

“I got to the field at 7 a.m. with my dad before he went to work,” Petrillo said. “I felt ready to go.”

Shamrock’s pitcher Mylee Ramer settled from there and only allowed a handful of hits the remainder of the game. The only other Warrior run came in the third inning when Allie Cecere singled in Petrillo.

Unfortunately for Bishop Feehan, Walsh was equally excellent the rest of the game.

“This was a big outing for her,” Fallon said of Walsh. “We’ve really been working with her a lot in the last few weeks on building her strength and confidence and she rose to the occasion today.”

Walsh finished with 17 strikeouts and when the other team did put it in play, her teammates played sound defense.

“It was nice,” Walsh said of her teammates’ defensive play. “It gives me the ability to pitch around the batter and know that my team can back me up when needed.”

The only blemish came in the fifth when Caitlyn Deveney smashed a solo home run to make it 5-1. From then, Walsh reared back and found a new gear.

King Philip improved to 8-0 with the win and Petrillo said the team’s up-tempo play style should serve them well going forward.

“We like to be aggressive,” Petrillo said. “We’ve been working on putting the ball in play, playing strong defense and are a speedy team. I feel good about this year.”

What does live music mean? Is it purely a show, or is it a community to find like-minded peers during a divided time?

Smoke clouds filled the stage, turning the strobe lighting into a hazy, murky tone. In a prayer position, Wesley Eisold of Cold Cave knelt on the floor facing the band. What was he praying to—Was it an appreciation of the moment? At the start of the set, Eisold greeted the Boston crowd at Brighton Music Hall and said grimly, “Welcome to church.” He chuckled at his own words and shrugged, seemingly unsure what he meant either. Darkwave synth as a genre dabbles in dissecting religious contexts. On Cold Cave’s album Passion Depression, released last year, it follows suit in its lyricism.

Being in Boston once again, the shows always feel like a homecoming as Eisold began his musical career with hardcore punk band American Nightmare here. Many of the fans in the audience of this Cold Cave show will likely be at American Nightmare shows as well. His projects garner a passionate following. The moods are quite different between the bands, and it was fascinating to see Cold Cave finally after seeing AN so many times. A true performer, Eisold moves across the stage differently with each band and interacts with the crowd more warmly as Cold Cave naturally prompts. His voice is a clear, deep tone as opposed to the fast shouts of AN. Both create a different form of release and connection.

Even the stage lighting creates a different mood to assure there are different creative paths between the two bands. Unlike a hardcore show of bombastic movements on and off stage, Cold Cave feels like a performance for individuality.

Fans arrived at the show with gothic makeup and repressed smiles. Here, they are embraced for their individuality. With a sense of freedom in self, and swaying electronic beats led by Eisold’s wife Amy Lee, the crowd danced joyfully. The gender fluidity output of Eisold’s record label Heartworm Press offers a sense of safe space for listeners. Touring guitarist Anthony Anzaldo of Ceremony furthers a realm of gender joy with both masculine and femme vibes.

Perhaps all of this acceptance, and joy in live music is what makes Eisold reflect on the evening as church. Not as a connection to the performance ocuring on a Sunday, but more that fans were rejoicing in the community and celebrating life, coming together to feel the music and share in the joy of Cold Cave. It is a cathartic space to surround ourselves in at a live show.

Buzz Kull joined as opener all the way from Sydney, Australia. His stripped down set consisted of Marc Dwyer, an elaborate keyboard, and excellent lighting. The electronic beats with exclamation point lyrics turned the venue into a dark dance club to begin the evening. He thanked the audience and expressed gratitude, as this was the first time for the musician to visit our fair city. His sincerity and kindness were felt through the crowd as they danced away the week in this collective space of renewing live music.
