BALTIMORE, MD — Be prepared to drop about $100 per person if you order off the menu at The Bygone in Baltimore, the most expensive restaurant in Maryland, according to a new ranking.

Love Food, whose content includes recipes, food news, and opinion pieces, said the list of upscale restaurants in every state includes everything from “old-school, mahogany-filled steakhouses to seafood spots right by the ocean.”

The picks are based on the priciest main course or tasting menu. Spots with just one very expensive dish were excluded.

The editors of the list said the United States has some seriously upscale restaurants for diners looking to spend big on a special occasion.

BALTIMORE, MD — A ranking of perhaps Maryland's most sacred food — crab cakes — has stirred up debate, no surprise.

Barstool Sports Baltimore and Barstool Sports DMV posted their list of the “Top Ten Crab Cake Spots in Maryland.” The local Barstool sites created their rankings based on social media comments.

The top two Maryland restaurants in a list of the “Best Crab Cakes in the U.S.” by Food & Wine magazine last year were not part of Barstool’s list, The MoCoShow noted. Those overlooked were the top-rated Jimmy’s Famous Seafood and No. 2 Faidley’s Seafood, both located in Baltimore. Jimmy’s was named The MoCoShow’s favorite crab cake in Maryland.

The Barstool list of best crab cakes:

1. Koco’s Pub: 4301 Harford Road, Baltimore. The venue says: "Every award-winning Koco’s Crab Cake is made fresh daily by hand. The recipe is a longtime family secret. Koco’s uses the best jumbo lump crab meat available on the market."

2. G&M Restaurant: 804 N. Hammonds Ferry Road, Linthicum Heights. "G&M’s famous crab cakes are shipped overnight for a fresh taste of Maryland anytime, anywhere."

3. Timbuktu Restaurant: 1726 Dorsey Road, Hanover. The restaurant touts its crab cakes and steaks as the best in Maryland. "No one leaves hungry … guaranteed!"

A Baltimore County truck driver and his wife are celebrating a $250,000 win on the $10 Money Bags scratch-off game.

“I’m still not believing this is real,” a lucky truck driver named Paul admitted as he visited Maryland Lottery Headquarters in Baltimore on June 2.

By the time he made that statement, he was well into the process of claiming his top prize on the $10 Money Bags scratch-off ticket. But the enormity of what he and his wife were experiencing overwhelmed him. Finding oneself $250,000 richer will do that to you.

The couple were working their way through a grocery list at a Baltimore Food Lion store last week when they realized that they had passed the store’s Lottery vending machine.

“We still had a lot to get and were short on time so we debated going back to get a ticket,” he said. “We almost didn’t, but we doubled back.”

Mindful of the clock, his wife selected the first ticket her gaze fell upon, Money Bags, as the game they’d play. He agreed.

The Money Bags game arrived in stores during February, starting with five $250,000 top prizes. The first of those top prizes was claimed in early May by a Washington, D.C., resident who bought her winning ticket in Temple Hills. Paul and his wife are now celebrating alongside that winner.

“I was mowing the lawn when my wife came outside to get me,” he said, adding that she asked him to guess how much they’d won. “I guessed $500, which is the most I’d ever won, and she pointed up. I made a couple more guesses and she kept pointing. Then she got too excited to wait and showed it to me. 100% disbelief.”

The couple — Paul and Gelila — plan to use their winnings to pay bills and invest in some home remodeling projects.

“We should still have plenty left over to find something fun to do,” he added.

Along with the three remaining top prizes, Money Bags still has two unclaimed $50,000 second-tier prizes and 12 third-tier prizes of $10,000 as of June 2, along with thousands of additional prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.

The lucky couple found their $250,000 surprise at the Food Lion at 7514 North Point Road. The Baltimore County store received a $1,000 bonus for selling the top-prize winner.

(CNN) — Emergency crews from a host of government agencies were working through the night to clean up a 2,000-gallon diesel spill along part of Baltimore’s waterfront that started Wednesday morning.

The spill is near the East Harbor Marina in the Patapsco River and originated from a Johns Hopkins Hospital facility in East Baltimore, authorities said.

A spokesperson for Johns Hopkins told CNN the spill was caused by two diesel tanks being overfilled and that it notified the Maryland Department of Environment immediately.

“On Wednesday, during routine fuel delivery by a third-party vendor, two diesel tanks which supply power for backup generators for our patient care facilities at Johns Hopkins in East Baltimore were accidentally overfilled causing overflow,” the spokesperson said.

Johns Hopkins is “actively working with local, state, and federal authorities to support the response in the Baltimore Inner Harbor,” the spokesperson told CNN early Thursday.

Johns Hopkins first reported the spill around 11:00 a.m. Wednesday and initially estimated it at 100 gallons, according to a news release from Maryland Governor Wes Moore and Baltimore Mayor Brandon M. Scott.

The fuel contains a red dye and has stained a section of the water roughly 100 by 250 yards near the South Central Avenue Bridge, the release said.

“The water is red due to dye in the diesel fuel. There is no impact to drinking water in the area,” the release from the governor and the mayor said.

Moore said on social media that he was at the scene of the spill near Fells Point, a historic waterfront in Baltimore and a popular tourist destination.

The US Coast Guard is leading the clean-up effort, which involves nearly a dozen state and city agencies.

The Coast Guard is working with crews using oil absorbent materials and skimmers to remove fuel from the water. “Containment and cleanup efforts will continue through the night,” officials said.

“Responders have deployed pollution response equipment, including containment boom, and are actively working to remove all recoverable product from the waterway,” the Coast Guard said in a statement.

CNN has reached out to Johns Hopkins and the Coast Guard for further details about the status and scope of the spill. Johns Hopkins Hospital is the flagship of Johns Hopkins Medicine, the university’s renowned medical school.
