Call Center Company in Amarillo, TX

Stores come and go in Amarillo, Texas. However, it seems many major retailers are closing up shop and leaving enormous storefronts empty.

That is exactly what happened on Soncy near I-40. Two major retailers have called this building home in the last 20 years. Nestled next to Home Depot near I-40 and Soncy, Circuit City was open in Amarillo for about 20 years until it closed around 2009. Conn's HomePlus moved into the space in 2014 and closed in 2024. This building is one store closer to becoming an Amarillo Cursed Building.

The new tenant in this building, located at 2510 S Soncy, looks to be a familiar store in Amarillo. All signs point to Burlington Stores opening soon in this location.

The answer to this question is most likely no. However, other than the information we have gotten through the licensing department is Burlington is indeed opening on Soncy.

We have reached out multiple times to Burlington, but at the time of publishing, we had yet to receive a response on the fate of the Western Crossing store. Will that one stay open, or is the whole store moving to Soncy? If we do receive a response, we'll update this story.

However, if the store is moving, then what does that mean for the building on Western? Will this shopping center have a mammoth storefront that remains empty for months or years, or will we see something much needed in Amarillo open?

Time will only tell.

Amarillo, Texas, is full of great places for its hardware needs. We have the big stores like Home Depot and Lowe's, and the smaller stores like Pride Home Center and Sutherland's. However, another one of those smaller stores was tucked into a shopping center on south Western Street.

Ace Hardware was located at 4705 S. Western, and the "Ace" has been removed from the building.

According to a Yelp review, they were permanently closed in January due to rent default. However, that is a Yelp review, and you should take that with a grain of salt. If you have driven by the hardware location, you will notice there is a banner hanging in front of the building.

The former Ace Hardware store is now called Paramount Hardware and Supply. Why the change? We reached out to another Paramount Hardware and Supply store and asked about the change. The store is under the same ownership; however, they have left the Ace Hardware buying co-op and are currently transitioning to a new buying group. Paramount Hardware and Supply has stores in Levelland and Fort Stockton.

No, a new Ace Hardware will be opening soon in Amarillo. The new Ace Hardware will be moving into the old Natural Grocers building in the Summit Shopping Center.

According to a post on the Gaut Whittenburg Emerson Brokerage and Property Management, Ace Hardware has leased the space and will soon be moving into the shopping center at 34th and Coulter.

We did reach out to Ace Hardware to get verification on the store opening in this new location at the Summit Shopping Center. At the time of publishing, we had yet to receive a response. If a response is received, we will update the information.

Amarillo will have a new Ace Hardware and a new Paramount Hardware and Supply, it just makes it more convenient for the residents who need close access to hardware.

Keeping the kids entertained can be tough, no matter how cool you think you are. Several times, I've found myself light on cash and needing a way to keep my kids busy. Here are some free or low-cost things kids can enjoy all year in and around Amarillo, Texas.

Amarillo is a town blessed with several parks and playgrounds. You can find yourself somewhat close to one almost anywhere you go in town. I've lived here for several years, and I still feel like I'm constantly finding new ones.

All of these parks have playgrounds and are great for killing a couple of hours and not killing your wallet. Some have splashpads. Others have ponds that ducks love to hang out at. All of them have enough to keep your little ones entertained for a while.

The Don Harrington Discovery Center is a staple in my house. My kids have spent more time hanging out there than anywhere else in Amarillo. Where this becomes a budget-friendly option is if you get a membership.

Yes, the lump sum at first might make you wince. However, after a few trips to the Discovery Center for my family, the membership had paid for itself. It covers the entire family, and there are no limits on how often you can use it.

There are a lot of things for the kids to do. Almost everything in the Discovery Center involves some form of interactive play. They also change up various exhibits during the year, so there will be new things to see.

The best part is that it is open year-round. No matter the weather, the kids will have something to do, and there are plenty of places for you to sit while the kids run around.

If you're looking for a way to get out of the house for a bit, you can always go to the flea market. My kids love walking around, looking in all of the various booths. Take a handful of quarters with you. If you have young ones, they'll probably want to ride the old school mechanical horses.

Palo Duro Canyon is an affordable option. If you have younger kids, they get in free, and adults only pay $8 to get in. This is another one my kids love. We've spent a lot of time down in the canyon exploring the trails. They never get tired of it.

If you're down for a bit of a road trip, Caprock Canyon isn't too far away. There are plenty of camping spots, and there is a lot to do. One of the main attractions is the herd of buffalo that wanders through the park. It's another one of my kids' favorite spots to hang out.

If the weather is nice, you can always spend some time at Lake Meredith. There's plenty to explore and enjoy other than the water, though; that's the best part on warmer days. We've spent a lot of time camping at Lake Meredith because it's free for the most part. A majority of the camping spots are first-come, first-served.

June 18 was National Wanna Get Away Day, and it got us to thinking of where Texans can get away from it all this summer and have a great time without breaking the bank.

Amarillo, Texas, has welcomed a lot of new businesses lately. Many name-brand businesses. We are getting Long John Silver's back in town, and we now have a Qdoba. I mean, c'mon, we got a Buc-ee's, which is huge!

All of these businesses started as rumors. Someone will say, "I heard that (insert business here) is coming to Amarillo." Then you won't hear anything for a while, and then you'll hear it again. Soon, all the signs point to Amarillo getting this business.

That seems to be the latest rumor floating in the universe surrounding Amarillo. If you don't know what Marshalls is, it is a department store where you can find clothing, shoes, and home goods all at discounted prices.

You might be thinking, "That sounds a lot like TJ Maxx." You would be correct; they are very similar and owned by the same company, TJX Companies.

That is a great question and warranted. Some bigger cities have both, while smaller cities have one or another. It is possible that Amarillo could handle two of these types of stores in the same city.

HomeGoods is also another company here in Amarillo that is owned by the TJX Companies.

HomeGoods started off as a rumor, but soon it proved to be real. Keep in mind, in a lot of cities, Marshalls and HomeGoods are in one store together or in the same shopping center. Joann's Fabrics is going out of business, and that would leave a big open building on Soncy just down from HomeGoods.

However, the outlook of getting a Marshalls in Amarillo isn't good. We reached out to Marshalls and asked, "Is Marshalls coming to Amarillo?" According to a spokesperson for the company,

Thank you for reaching out. Although we appreciate your inquiry, Marshalls has not announced a new store for Amarillo at this time.

Keep in mind, they did the same thing to us about HomeGoods, they told us the same thing up until their press release went out about a grand opening.

So is Marshalls coming to Amarillo? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
