Officials of the local Korn Ferry Tour Tournament announced today that tickets are now on sale for the 2025 Veritex Bank Championship. Tickets can be purchased by visiting the link through the tournament website at veritexbankchampionship.com. This is the 5^th annual Veritex Bank Championship held at Texas Rangers Golf Club in Arlington.

The tournament offers a few select ticketing options to fit every fan’s experience. Prices start at $25 for general admission grounds tickets, youth under the age of 18 are permitted free admission with a ticketed adult.

For an upgraded fan experience, consider the all-inclusive F&B experience with the VIP Patio Club ticket option for $100, which provides hospitality access on the patio of the clubhouse, at the heart of the golfing action.

This past October, the tournament hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to promote the return of the tournament to Texas Rangers Golf Club. At the ceremony, tournament director, Richie Sapp announced that Arlington residents will receive free tickets to all tournament rounds. Arlington residents may redeem their digital tickets at seven locations across Arlington (locations listed below). To redeem, residents will be given a unique code they will enter on the ticketing platform used by the tournament, which can be found at veritexbankchampionship.com.

Along with Arlington residents, all active-duty military, reservists, veterans, and first responders receive free admission to the tournament rounds.

Other exciting activities fans can anticipate this year include a mobile swing simulator for fans to test their game, fan-friendly prices at concessions, and the best access to watch golf’s most elite rising stars. Additionally, Prince Lebanese Grill will roll out its brand-new food truck at the tournament, serving up its signature Mediterranean flavors and fan-favorite dishes. With these exciting new offerings and more, this year’s Veritex Bank Championship promises to deliver an unforgettable experience for all attendees.

Fans can also look forward to themed days throughout tournament week, adding even more excitement to the experience. Folds of Honor Friday invites fans and players to show their support for military members and families by wearing red, white, and blue brought to you by our 13^th hole sponsors, Plexus Groupe and evolve Consulting. The Downtown Arlington Farmers Market opened with a great turnout this past Saturday, marking the beginning of a new tradition in the heart of Arlington. The market, a collaboration between the Downtown Arlington Management Corporation, the City of Arlington, and Four Seasons Markets, will be held every Saturday through November from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will offer a variety of fresh produce, local vendors, and unique artisan goods to the community.

The market will be located in the city parking lot at the corner of Front and Center Streets just west of the Rotary Dream Park on Front Street.

Maggie Campbell, President and CEO for Downtown Arlington, emphasized the significance of this addition to the community.

“For years, our community has expressed a strong desire for a farmers market in Downtown Arlington. We are thrilled to finally bring this vision to life, offering a space where people can connect, support local businesses, and have access to fresh, locally sourced products.”

Parking and entry are free, making it easy for everyone to attend and enjoy this new weekend tradition. Free parking is available throughout Downtown. Some of the closest parking is along Front Street, on the first two floors of the 101 Center parking garage, in the lot west of City Hall, and the reverse-angle parking spaces on Mesquite, Center and Abram streets south of the train tracks. Handicap parking spaces are available on Center Street east of the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library.

The Downtown Arlington Farmers Market will feature 25 to 30 vendors offering a variety of locally grown fruits and vegetables, freshly baked goods, handmade crafts and more. This exciting addition to Downtown Arlington will provide the community with an opportunity to support local businesses while enjoying a lively atmosphere. “This farmer’s market is another piece in our overall strategies to make downtown a vibrant, walkable and locally fueled experience,” Campbell said. “It was identified long ago in our master plan, and now is the perfect time to bring it to life.”

In addition to the farmers market, the Doggie Depot, located within walking distance, is a great stop for dog owners looking to spoil their pets. After shopping for fresh produce and local goods, you can take your dog to the nearby Doggie Depot for a fun time. Located within walking distance from the market, the Doggie Depot offers a perfect spot for your pet to enjoy some playtime while you explore the area. It’s a great way to make it a full outing for both you and your furry friend.

The doors are officially open for ACTIV, Arlington’s new 73,000-square-feet recreation center for adults ages 50 and older.

ACTIV, now the City’s largest recreation center, is located at 2061 W. Green Oaks Blvd in West Arlington. Hundreds of residents joined City leaders on Wednesday, March 26, to celebrate the facility’s grand opening. Voters approved funding for ACTIV in a special bond election in May 2017.

Parks and Recreation Director James Orloski said ACTIV can be considered as three facilities in one. The building has separate entrances and hours of operation for what is known as its Active side and its Social side. The facility’s natatorium, which includes an indoor lap pool and an indoor hydrotherapy pool, will open later this summer.

Amenities on the Active side include a full-court gymnasium, four indoor pickleball courts, a fitness area, and a walking track. The Active side is open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays.

Amenities on the Social side include a lounge with billiards, a special events space, arts and crafts room and more. The social side is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and then open for private rentals only on weekends.

ACTIV is the third recreation center opened by Arlington in the past five year, preceded by The Beacon in southeast Arlington and the East Library and Recreation Center in East Arlington in 2020. ACTIV is also located at the newly designated Centennial Park, which is Arlington’s 100^th public park dedicated as part of Parks & Recreation’s 100^th anniversary last year.

Outdoor amenities at ACTIV include a patio, outdoor walking trail, six pickleball courts, and a community garden where patrons can rent a bed for gardening year-round.

As with the City’s five other recreation centers, patrons must have a day pass or a membership to access ACTIV’s programs and amenities. ACTIV memberships can be used at any City of Arlington Recreation Center. Parks & Recreation offers three tiers of recreation center memberships, Blue, Green and Gold, with pricing based on the types of amenities and activities patrons are seeking to access. Day passes are available for $8.

Arlington recreation centers charge membership fees and daily pass fees to help fund year-round operating costs.

Participants can receive complementary Gold-tier membership through Silver Sneakers, Renew Active, and Silver & Fit.

For adults ages 50-59, Blue-tier plans start at $16 a month, Green-tier plans start at $20 a month and Gold-tier plans start at $32 a month.

For adults ages 60-79, Blue-tier plans start at $5 a month, Green-tier plans start at $18 a month and Gold-tier plans start at $26 a month.

Annual passes as also available and range from $192 to $384 for patrons ages 50-59, from $60 to $312 for patrons ages 60-79 or just $24 for Super Senior patrons ages 80 and up.

Fees for patrons who are not Arlington residents are approximately 30% higher than resident pricing for all membership tiers, except for Super Seniors memberships for those who are ages 80 and older.

CORRECTION: A previous version of this story incorrectly reported that Dirty Cajun Seafood Kitchen, at 100 West Pioneer Parkway, was closed due to a roach infestation. The inspection data was for a previous restaurant at that location. Dirty Cajun Seafood Kitchen remodeled the space, conducted extensive pest control treatments, and passed all required inspections before opening for the first time last week, the new restaurant’s owners said.

Three Arlington restaurants were temporarily closed, including two that had roach infestations, and another restaurant failed in recent health inspections, according to city data compiled by the Star-Telegram.

The report contains data from March 2-March 15 and 141 inspections.

Arlington’s health inspections function on a 100-point system. A score of 100 points is considered perfect and 70 is considered extremely poor.

Three restaurants were temporarily closed by the City of Arlington:

One restaurant failed its health inspection: Taipo, located at 200 E. Abram St., was closed due to “temperature violations, failure to discard out of date food products, improper food storage, and poor employee hygiene,” city officials said. Inspectors ensured the worst issues were fixed immediately and later returned for a follow-up inspection. The restaurant had a score of 68.

In total, 26 restaurants underwent follow-up inspections and five restaurants scored under 75 points on inspection, according to the report.
