GEORGETOWN, Texas — Residents of Georgetown and surrounding areas are grappling with the aftermath of a severe hailstorm that struck Tuesday night, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Manju Narayanappa, a resident of the hard-hit Saddle Creek neighborhood, described the storm's intensity.

"It was pouring like a waterfall for 20 to 30 minutes," said Narayanappa, who was finishing dinner with his family when the storm hit. "My flowerbed and lawn were covered in ice, and there was so much falling on the car."

The storm, which swept through south and southeast Georgetown and east Round Rock, caused significant damage to homes and vehicles. Narayanappa reported that the hail smashed one of his home's windows and damaged his car.

Michael Pickel, President of Texas Traditions Roofing, estimated that between 40,000 to 50,000 homes were affected by the storm.

"Cars have a lot of dents and dings in them. We're seeing some broken windows on the sides of homes. Some siding is getting damaged," he said. "Significant hail impacts all over the roofs."

With more rain expected, Pickel advised homeowners to assess their roofs for damage. "

Get somebody out to take a look at the roof. Make sure you have impacts that are worth calling your insurance company. Have your insurance company come out, inspect, and determine whether they're going to claim the roof. And then from there select a roofing contractor and get your roof installed," he said.

As the community begins the recovery process, residents are urged to take precautions and seek professional assessments to prevent further damage.
