KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Freddy Fermin hit a winning single in the 11th and the Kansas City Royals rebounded from a blown two-run, ninth-inning lead to beat Colorado 4-3 on Tuesday night and drop the Rockies to 4-18.

Daniel Lynch IV (3-0) pitched a hitless inning as part of a five-hitter, sending Colorado to its ninth loss in 10 games. The Rockies are 1-12 on the road.

Jacob Stallings put Colorado ahead 3-2 with three-run double after Carlos Estévez walked the bases loaded with two outs in the ninth.

Salvador Perez singled off Seth Halvorsen starting the bottom half, advanced on Maikel Garcia’s double and scored on Michael Massey’s sacrifice fly.

With automatic runner Mark Canha on second starting the 11th, Tyler Kinley (0-1) intentionally walked Bobby Witt Jr., who extended his hitting streak to 14 games with an eighth-inning single. Kinley threw a wild pitch and intentionally walked Vinnie Pasquantino, and Fermin lined a single to center.

Drew Waters homered in the sixth off Ryan Feltner and Kyle Isbel bunted for an RBI single in the eighth that drove in Waters, who slid home ahead of the glove flip from first baseman Michael Toglia.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

The Buffalo Bills averaged 30.9 points per game in 2024, second most amongst all NFL teams. Even in their AFC Championship Game loss, they managed to score 29 points on the road at hostile Arrowhead Stadium.

On Tuesday, Buffalo's secret was written across the face of quarterback Josh Allen's cap, making it impossible to ignore as the media assembled with OTAs underway in Orchard Park.

"Everybody Eats EST. 2024," said the script on the hat.

While the Bills adopted the slogan, and the spread-the-love style of play that comes with it, in 2024, it wasn't meant to be temporary.

"We're returning a lot of guys. That helps when guys are fresh and understand what Joe's trying to implement and what type of really, mantra - the 'everybody eats.' I think I have the hat on right now. That's not just a one-year thing," said Allen.

In Joe Brady's first full season as offensive coordinator, the Bills played without a true WR1 per se, and even starting running back James Cook barely played 50 percent of offensive snaps. It was the ultimate committee effort across the board, and it resulted in Buffalo becoming the first NFL team ever to score 30 rushing touchdowns and 30 passing touchdowns in the same season.

"It's not just talk. It was proven last year," said Allen. "When you got guys that just buy in, that's when your offense can be pretty dangerous."

The Bills return their entire offensive line along with their three primary running backs and wide receivers Curtis Samuel, Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir. The continuity will only help Buffalo continue to live the mantra.

"That's kind of what this offense is. It's what it takes to be a good offense. When you have guys that understand that, they know that, they know what to expect coming into it, then we can start to kind of hone in on the smaller details now. That's the exciting part for us," said Allen.

After nine weeks of voluntary OTAs, the Bills are scheduled to host a mandatory veteran minicamp June 10-12.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two Spire employees were injured when a spark caused a fire as they were digging in a hole Tuesday to reach a leak in a large, underground natural gas line.

A spokesperson for the Kansas City, Missouri, Fire Department told KSHB 41 at the scene fire crews went to check on a reported ruptured gas main about 5:30 p.m. today near East 95th Street and Grandview Road.

A KCMO Water Department employee working in the area hit a 10 to 12-inch gas line and caused the gas leak, according to the fire department spokesperson. The city's Water Department workers had been at the scene all day replacing pipe.

Spire gas company workers responded to the leak and began digging a hole to help with gas line repairs.

Firefighters evacuated homes in the area, the gas valve was shut down and Evergy shut off power to the area, the fire department spokesperson said.

A spark ignited a fire and an explosion in the hole that injured the two Spire employees. One of the employees suffered serious injuries, but is in stable condition, the fire department spokesman said. The other worker suffered minor injuries.

No residents or firefighters were injured, and no homes were damaged.

Residents were allowed back in their homes about 9 p.m.

The Spire spokesperson said because the gas main was closed, they do anticipate a small number of customer outages.

The company's workers returned to work on repairs Thursday night.

The Kansas City Chiefs are one of the best teams in the National Football League. However, they have no shortage of needs heading into the NFL Draft.

The Kansas City Chiefs aim to bounce back from an unexpected end to their season. Ben Rolfe of the Pro Football Network believes the Chiefs' offensive line is arguably their most pressing need. However, it is far from their only need heading into the draft.

"The Kansas City Chiefs' season ended in the ultimate disappointment of a crushing Super Bowl loss. They have an experienced front office, so we should not expect them to overreact, but the Philadelphia Eagles highlighted some flaws in this team, especially at left tackle," Rolfe said.

"With the move on offense, the defense has become the area of biggest need. Those needs revolve around replacing their pending free agents. Chris Jones is surrounded by tole players, but there are not many players who profile as high-upside additions. Spending an early draft pick on the position could change that."

Rolfe noted that while the Chiefs' offense has received most of the attention and blame for their Super Bowl loss, Kansas City's defense needs just as much help. The draft will give the Chiefs a chance to add quality talent to their roster.

"At EDGE, George Karlaftis is a high-end option, but the rest of the group tends to be more role players than high-impact players. To add more potentially impactful talent, they could benefit from getting a pass rusher on Day 1 or Day 2. At safety, it is about replacing a star in Justin Reid. The dependable veteran has been a comforting presence, and they need a high-IQ player to come in and replace him," Rolfe said.

"On offense, the offensive line remains a concern. They re-signed Trey Smith but traded away Joe Thuney. They may be happy rolling into the season with Mike Caliendo starting, but they should at least add some competition for him. Similarly, they should look to add some insurance and competition at left tackle in case their gamble on Jaylon Moore does not pay off."

The Chiefs have several players entering the last season of their deals, which means they may move on from multiple well-known players next offseason. The Chiefs could help soften the blow of those expected departures with young, talented players on affordable contracts on the roster.

"It will be intriguing to see if the Chiefs also look to address either running back or tight end on Day 3 of the draft. Isiah Pacheco and Travis Kelce are in the final years of their deal, so the Chiefs may look for some late-round talent they can develop into a bigger role in 2025," Rolfe said.
