This Saturday, June 14, which is Flag Day as well as Trump’s birthday, demonstrators are taking to the streets in more than 1,500 cities nationwide for the 'No Kings' Day of Defiance, demanding safety, dignity and justice in the face of the Trump administration’s authoritarian overreach and erosion of democratic norms.

These demonstrations, coordinated by Indivisible, are happening at the same time as Trump’s military parade in Washington D.C. honoring the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army, which is estimated will cost $25 to 45 million dollars in taxpayer money.

No Kings organizer Andrew Guss explains, Trump’s upcoming military/birthday display symbolizes everything that the movement rejects. “Locals in Milwaukee joined to amplify grassroots resistance and affirm that in America, we are citizens—not subjects.”

The marches are described as an act of collective resistance that stands for free and fair elections, inclusive governance, and the principle that power belongs to the people and not the elites.

Large numbers, powerful speeches and bold visuals are expected, and marshals trained in de-escalation will be present.

“We anticipate strong turnout and powerful energy at events across Wisconsin,” Guss contends. “Wisconsin is a critical battleground, and people here understand what’s at stake. This will be a day of unity, urgency and action.”In addition to Milwaukee, No Kings demonstrations will take place in Madison, Green Bay, Kenosha, Shawano, Stevens Point, Eau Claire, La Crosse and many more Wisconsin cities. All who are planning to attend a demonstration should familiarize themselves with their constitutional protestors’ rights in the event of an emergency.

MILWAUKEE, WI — Be prepared to drop $168 if you order off the top of the menu at Carnevor in Milwaukee, the most expensive restaurant in Wisconsin, according to a new ranking.

Love Food, whose content includes recipes, food news, and opinion pieces, said the list of upscale restaurants in every state includes everything from “old-school, mahogany-filled steakhouses to seafood spots right by the ocean.”

The picks are based on the priciest main course or tasting menu. Spots with just one very expensive dish were excluded.

The editors of the list said the United States has some seriously upscale restaurants for diners looking to spend big on a special occasion.”

There’s steak, and then there’s steak. Carnevor serves the latter, and diners pay top dollar for it. The priciest on the menu is, unsurprisingly, the Japanese wagyu A5 filet mignon, at a vertiginous $168. And that’s before you’ve added sides, sauces, and luxurious toppings like foie gras or king crab. You can also order a dry-aged rib-eye that's big enough to share for $130.

"We went here for my wife birthday and when we opened our menu’s, it said Happy Birthday.," wrote one user on Google Reviews.

Severe storms are forecast to pass through Milwaukee the evening of May 15, bringing egg-sized hail and gusty winds to the area.

Storms will develop in the Madison area Thursday afternoon, before moving eastward toward Waukesha County by 6 or 7 p.m., according to Tim Halbach, warning coordination meteorologist with the National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan. The severe weather could hit the Milwaukee anytime between 6 and 8 p.m., he said.

"Whenever the storms come through, that's when we should expect the large hail, some high winds and chances for a tornado or two to develop," Halbach said. "Basically all the severe thunderstorm hazards will be possible today."

The greatest tornado risk will be in central Wisconsin, toward Fond Du Lac and further northwest, he added. Milwaukee has a lower tornado risk due to cooler temperatures by the lakefront.

Winds across much of the state will likely reach between 60 mph and 80 mph, and rainfall totals in Milwaukee will likely reach between a quarter and a half inch, Halbach said. Flash flooding is unlikely.

"These storms are going to be moving by pretty quick,," he said, "but with any thunderstorms, you can get some torrential downpours when they come through."

As for the multi-day, dense fog over Milwaukee, the shifting winds from the storm should clear out the lingering fog by end of day, Halbach said. Friday, May 16 will bring more windy weather, with some chances of showers in the afternoon. Rain may linger into May 17 but should clear up by the end of the weekend.

The school day started with a huge surprise for second-grade teacher Toni Fink on Wednesday, May 14. State and district representatives arrived at Milwaukee Spanish Immersion School to present her with a Wisconsin Teacher of the Year award.

Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction State Superintendent Jill Underly, MPS Superintendent Brenda Cassellius, Milwaukee Board of School Directors President Missy Zombor, past Board President and District 1 Director Marva Herndon, and others joined Principal Marybell Nieves Harris in congratulating Fink. The entire student body was gathered in the gym, expecting a regularly scheduled assembly, when the surprise announcement was made as the teacher’s family waited behind the scenes.

Fink’s students shared their thoughts about why Fink was selected. “She always helps all of her students when they need it. She creates a warm, loving classroom, and she always cares,” Olive Medina said.

Carter Lopez echoed the sentiment. “From the beginning of the school year to the end, she works hard with every student to make sure they improve in their own ways.”

The principal made it clear that Fink is special: “Relationship building is so important, and that’s something that I see she does every day, and that’s why her kids love her so much. They come back year after year because she touches each of their lives. She gets to know them more than just as students, but as actual children and as adults, and I think that is her magic.”

Milwaukee Spanish Immersion School offers an experience for students to learn English and Spanish simultaneously. The elementary school has two campuses, at 2765 S. 55th St. and 3575 S. 88th St.
